"We are the US marine corps and we shall know no fear. we are the president fury!"
A final line of speech of the US marine chapter master Inderick Boreale of the 2nd regiment of the blood raven, before fighting against the upcoming invasion of the PLA forces on Titan the moon of Saturn.
The US marine corps is the mightiest and the one and only super-soldier branch in the US army. back in the day, they don't have this augmentation thing, they are just regular people joining there, and they have intense training than the army. the 420th president of America decided to do a change to the marine corps. anyone who signs up for the marine, be it men or women must be careful as there is a contract that they will have to sign on. once sign they will have to swear an oath that once they are there, they can't quit or leave.
A reasonable and believable and justifiable reason why it is made in the first place is due to how long the space race goes. the arms race follow as space itself and other celestial body outside earth has become a new battlefield. while other nations begin to improve their military overtime the USA has a special case indeed, despite unethical, least it finally pays off. as there is a reason why they managed to secure, this new marine program was made during the year 2690. as that is where the earliest test of augmentation begins, and it takes a long time to perfect it and make it tamer, to make the greatest super-soldier of them all.
They also have blind loyalty to their country and their president. that their loyalty to it is unquestionable. they will smite any enemies of their country and crushed the terrorist with their might and fist, along with their bolters will plow their enemies like a knife through butter. as how regular infantries have a hard time taking down one marine because of their armor itself. just so damn intense.
The training of the marine is far longer and more intense in the boot camp. at first, the candidate must stay in boot camp for around 13 weeks. then the graduation of the marine would be an augmentation that will make their body far different and stronger, this time they can't leave for real. The training there shapes their minds and the strength, of a true marine.
The augmentation of these marines is pretty much safe. after a lot of trial and error. the early phase of this trial used to have plenty of people die or deform to the point they are not fit for combat. but after retrying and fixing its flaws, more people manage to survive the augmentation. thus they become more powerful than regular humans. The US marine never surrenders or retreat as they fight to the very end of them.
And a note is that they are the only branch with a special vehicle to fit their size. as anti-gravity on them has been installed. their vehicle compares to the army has a special design, for them to operate. thought they have many varieties of them.
Retirement
If any of the marines really want to retire. they will have to go on a procedure of de-augmentation. which will turn them into normal human beings. as this augmentation does not extend their lifespan at all. so they are not literally immortal that can't die of old age. due to the time of research and perfect the augmentation. reversing it is also an important factor since not everyone going to stay in the marine forever.
So the reason why de-augmentation happen is that having a superhuman being running among the public is very dangerous. along with it, other enemy nation who does espionage could kidnap one of them and try to unlock the secret of the US marine augmentation. this shall never happen at all, as this is what the whole purpose of de-augmentation was meant, all for the sake to protect the secret of the military itself, as no other nation shall have the formula that can make a superhuman soldier.
