"Did you really expect this to work out?" Cross chuckled as he stared Nightmare dead in the eyelight from the few feet he stood in front of him

Nightmare stared back with anger boiling inside his corrupted soul, his tentacles thrashing wildly behind him as he glared at the skeleton who he had called his lover, who now has declared he is leaving to join his brother, Dream to fight against the multiverses evil threats

Those threats, being him.

"After everything we've been through, your just throwing all of that away?!" Nightmare roared, his eyelight flaring wildly

Trying to contain his betrayed expression was past Nightmare at this moment in time, and without much thought into what he was about to do Nightmare used one of the thrashing tentacles to wind around the oreos waist and in one quick moment Cross was slammed into the ground

Seemingly in no pain at all Cross laughed in amusement as Nightmare teleported in front of him and grabbed him by his shirt, yanking him up to eye level where he hissed at him "I saved you from that hell of a void your world left, cared for you, LOVED you!" Cross nodded in mock understanding as Nightmares grip on his shirt got tighter

When Nightmares words did nothing to sway the smaller, Nightmare felt his angry snarl fade into a saddened frown as he looked at Cross desperately, almost whispering now as cyan tears swelled in his sockets

"Did, all of that really mean nothing to you?"

Cross reached a hand up to nightmares face, cunning smile still there as he used a thumb to brush the tears that were falling down his cheekbones away as he replied

"Oh Nights, you really are naive aren't you?" A familiar chuckle sounded over Nightmares shoulder that made him turn his skull at the speed of light to see who he hadn't expected in all the years he had been corrupted

Hands behind his back and standing tall, the golden clad skeleton held the same devilish grin that Cross still kept on his face even as he was being held dangerously close to Nightmares thrashing tentacles

"You never learn, brother" Dreams voice echoed through Nightmares skull, digging into his thoughts as Nightmare watched his brother and the castle around them become engulfed in darkness that was closing in on Nightmare, fast

Quickly turning back to Cross, The goopy king realized that cross was gone, the darkness all that was left as it closed in on him as Nightmare felt his soul begin to race in his ribcage with his panicked breathing as more tears began to flood his vision, making him more disoriented

"Cross!" He called desperately, Hoping, PLEADING that the former royal guard would save him from this hell

When no one came Nightmare called again, his cries desperate and panicked as he screamed cross name in any hope he would appear

Now on his knees Nightmare still clutched at the fabric of his shirt over his pounding soul as he felt his voice become hoarse "CROSS! p-please, Don't leave me alone, please....

But no one ca-

Nightmare suddenly felt hands on his shoulders and a familiar voice call his name while laced with concern, making his sockets that he hadn't realized were closed shoot open to reveal Cross's worried face close to his own from above him looking down at him

Cross sighed in relief when Nightmare finally woke up, having been terrified he had hurt himself somehow when Nightmare had started to hyperventilate and call out for him in his sleep which had successfully woke him up to see Nightmares tear riddled face and shaking frame

Without hesitation Cross had sat up and put his hand on Nightmares shoulder in an attempt to wake him, and after the action made Nightmare cry harder Cross quickly straddled Nightmare from on top of him and tried to wake him that way, and after a few minutes the skeleton underneath him had thankfully woken up

"There you go see?" Im right here Nighty, Im here" Cross breathed as Nightmare stared up at him in relief and fear while he trembled in cross gaze

Nightmare couldn't help the small cry that escaped his throat when cross gently lifted him up so that he could lean against the soldiers chest and bury his face into his t shirt while he hiccuped and cried against the other

Cross rubbed the others back in a circular motion while whispering sweet words of encouragement to the whimpering skeleton in his arms who gripped onto him for dear life

When Nightmares cries had quietened down Cross slowly pulled him away from his chest to see his face, both of cross hands going up to cup nightmares cheekbones as he quietly asked

"Are you alright now? You gave me quite a scare there, Nighty"

Grateful that Cross hadn't commented on his meltdown in a mocking way, Nightmare leaned his face into cross hands, his arms going up to wrap around his neck while quietly muttering "M'fine now, thanks Crossy"

Knowing Nightmare certainly wasn't 'fine' Cross felt a small twinge of worry build up inside of him, but tried to ignore it as of now, hoping Nightmare would tell him what happened later on if he asked again

A small smirk grew on Cross face as he suddenly has an idea, so when Nightmare went to remove one of his arms from cross neck to wipe the remaining tears still dripping down his skull Cross leaned forward and using his purple pointed tongue, the soldier licked away the salty cyan tears from both of nightmares cheekbones

"Cross! What are you-"

Nightmares cheekbones erupted in a dark cyan blush and instantly he began to laugh and squirm in Cross touch that became worse when the other suddenly pushed him back onto the bed and started to pepper kisses all over his face and neck

"T-that tickles stop it!-" Nightmare gasped while seeing Cross own purple blush erupt in his cheekbones as he smiled

Wrapping his legs around cross waist Nightmare laughed happily at the loving Oreo who stared down at him with love and adoration in his eye lights, Nightmare the same as their blushes shone brightly in the dark room they resided in

"Now no more tears Night Light, or im gonna have to kiss more of you to stop them" Cross purred, causing Nightmare to smile and nuzzle Cross nasal bone affectionately

"Okay, Crossy, No more tears"
