LORELEI

"WHAT TIME are you going home?" I asked Loki who's sitting on the swivel chair na pinapalitan niya pa sa kadahilanang naupo rito ang kuya niya.

Hindi siya sumagot. I repeated the same question baka kasi nakatulala siya, but then I remembered that he can sleep with his eyes open.

"Oh. I slept again." he said then stretched a little. "What is it?"

I asked him with the same question I already asked earlier.

It's already past six. Loki and I were left here in the clubroom dahil naghihintay pa siya ng potential clients. Alistair had offered to drive me home earlier but I politely declined.

"Later." simpleng sagot niya.

"I'm asking the time Loki."

"I don't know. Filipinos aren't used to keeping track of time, so it's best not to make any assumptions." He has a point. There are those who plan ahead of time to go where and when they want to, but ended up being late or in some cases, absent due to unforeseen circumstances.

Looks like he was bored by the cases that the students of the Clark High were advised.

From potential cases that we'll be able to solve to petty ones na tinawag niya pang boring. We're making them feel lazy in searching missing items because of useless problems they were consulting. I remembered him asking the same question "Are we kind of a 'love guru?'" sa tuwing ganung case pa rin ang paulit-ulit na ikino-consult sa amin.

Well, not gonna blame them though dahil puro students ang aming clients. Maaaring tatlong uri lang ng kaso ang i-recommend nila; top one na riyan ang love life, second ay ang studies and last is for personal problems na pansarili na lamang nila.

We wrapped things up, locked the door as well as windows and get ready to leave. We made our way down to the third floor and exited.

On our way home, madadaanan ang isang Park kung saan maraming nagpi-picnic. There were lots of street foods they've been selling around. Damn, that looks tasty! Omg! Parang natatakam ako!

I wouldn't let the chance to slip so I asked him a million-dollar question. We're already here, anyway.

"Well, I have nothing much on my plate today except reading books so.." then he slowly nodded.

We kept an eye on the kids as they ran around and played. On the other side were teenagers who spread out a thick blanket before sitting down and took the food out of their baskets. We also saw some joggers especially men along with their pets. There were also a few bookworms who preferred to be alone with their books.

I left my companion for a while to buy some snacks nearby. I bought the ones that captures my eyes like egg waffles (kwek-kwek), fish balls, chicken skin (probin/proben), fried siomai, calamares and more. I bought drinks as well. There were also some food names that seemed new to me.

I left as soon as I bought the food I wanted. I answered him with a shrugged and an awkward smile.

His eyes were glued to the kids who are playing and I saw from where I am that he's about to stand up to help a kid who got tripped na agad namang inalalayan ng kaniyang yaya.

I'm walking slowly toward Loki's direction. I'm careful not to spill and waste the drinks I bought.

“Ya! Didn't I told you to sit there and wait for me?!” I scolded him.

“You're in a dilemma right now so I initiated a help. And you walked like a turtle and you're holding a—how can we all eat that?!” Nanlaki ang mga singkit niyang mata. He's thinking if we can able to eat all the food I bought.

Mukhang mapapalaban pa yata kami.

To be continued...

Ps. Part two will be posted soon.

A/N: I'm having a writer's block when writing this, especially the last part kaya baka medyo magulo but I wanted to post it, though. I'm so excited whenever I post an update. This is what every aspiring writer feels, I guess?
