최악의 선물

Aera & Arang : 3 weeks old

"TAEHYUNG OPPA!"

The young man winced as the high yelp reached his ears. Even worse, however, the baby girl in his arms became disturbed by the scream and started to whimper

Groaning, he pressed a hand against the baby's exposed right ear, gently enough so he wouldn't hurt her. Her whole head was pretty much the size of his hand, however, so her entire face became hidden by his palm

Lisa came running into the room, her hodded eyes shining with excitement. When she saw Taehyung's annoyed expression, however, her look became one of curiosity instead "What is it?"

"Lisa, you can't be so loud" Taehyung whispered "It hurts Aera's ears!"

"Oh, I'm sorry" Lisa gasped, covering her mouth with her hand before removing it and lowering her voice to nothing more than a gentle whisper "I'll be quieter"

She knelt in front of the Singer and giggled softly at the sight of the baby in his arms. Her eyes were sealed shut, and she had stopped with her pitiful whimpering. The girl was very tiny, her entire being about as long as Taehyung's elbow to his fingertips

"Hello, little baby" Lisa cooed, gently tickling Aera's chest. The baby gurgled and curled her toes in her pajamas, the tiny white bows at her ankles catching Lisa's attention and causing her smile to grow even wider

"She likes you a lot, Lisa" Taehyung smiled

"Aera is the cutest baby in the whole entire world" Lisa squealed "Oh and Arang too, of course! Both of my babies are!"

"Yeah..." Taehyung sighed happily, staring down at the baby girl. The two remained silent for a while, simply looking at baby Aera

Finally, Taehyung glanced back up at Lisa and asked "So, you're going back to Thailand soon?"

"Yeah, probably tomorrow" Lisa nodded slowly "It's been fun spending New Year's here, but I think I'd like to go to home and see my Mom and Dad. I haven't seen them in a few months! They been so busy"

"That'll be fun" Taehyung tried to suppress a yawn "If I don't sleep through your departure...."

"I'm sure you won't" Lisa giggled

"You don't even know what exhaustion is until you're getting up every two hours" Taehyung groaned, tilting his head back until it hit the soft cushion of the couch behind him

"Jennie has it worse than you" Lisa commented

"Thanks for the reminder" Taehyung replied sarcastically, not even bothering to pick his head back up

"Just because you're tired doesn't mean you have to be sarcastic" Lisa crossed her arms over her chest and gave Taehyung a disapproving look, even though he couldn't see "You wouldn't want Aera picking up on something like that, would you?"

"Guess not" Taehyung admitted, getting his head upright once again so he could glance down at the baby in his arms. Her eyes were still closed, and her full lips were sticking out in a pouty fashion that made Taehyung's heart melt "I can't believe she and Arang are three weeks old already. That's still really young...but it feels like they were just born yesterday!"

"Before you know it they'll be running around the house" Lisa smirked

"Oh, I don't want to think about that" Taehyung groaned, horror reflecting back in his chocolate brown eyes

"You don't have to, for now" Lisa giggled "Just focus on their three week birthday! It should be easy for you"

"Why?" Tarhyung blinked

"Because I got Arang and Aera birthday presents" Lisa clapped her hands together; lightly enough that the sound wouldn't bother Aera "I can give Arang his later, since Jennie is upstairs feeding him right now. But I can give Aera hers now!"

"You didn't have to get them presents, you know" Taehyung's eyes followed Lisa as she stood up and skipped over to the front door, where he had failed to notice two small shopping bags on the floor "I mean, it's only three weeks. Besides, they're already both so spoiled! You know it's bad when I had a hard time closing one of Aera's drawers this morning....."

"Taehyung Oppa, every girl needs an expansive wardrobe, no matter how young she is" Lisa recited, throwing the annoyed young father a sweet, playful smile

"I feel like you've been feeding Jennie all of these lines" Taehyung grumbled

"Nah, she's a girl, she knows 'em by heart too" Lisa trilled. She skirted back over to Taehyung, the small, baby pink shopping bag held between her fingers "Besides, this isn't a very big present. Not at all! It's just a little something that I thought would look adorable on my precious little baby!"

This made Taehyung nervous. She had already gotten Aera quite a few outfits, and they all consisted of pink and lace and frills. He was surprised, in fact, that the outfit Aera was in now hadn't been given to her by Lisa. It had actually been from Rose. So....close enough

"Ready to see what I picked out?" Lisa asked, lighting up her whole face

"Sure" Taehyung gave the small smile

"Let's see it" Reaching into the small bag Lisa pulled out a black wrap headband with a gigantic hot pink and black bow on its front. It was probably five inches in diameter, with at least three different layers of ribbon. At the very top of the bow was a puff of hot pink, marabou feathers, which only made the decoration look that much bigger

Needless to say, Taehyung's face was completely frozen

"Isn't it just adorable?!" Lisa squealed "I saw it in the mall and fell in love! It's so stylish and cute. Aera is going to look fabulous in it"

Taehyung wanted to protest but he found that he wasn't currently able to move his mouth. Aera, for what it was worth, still had her eyes closed and didn't seem at all disturbed by Lisa's excitement or her father's horror

"Here, let's try it on" Lisa cooed, once again kneeling down before Taehyung

Being as gentle as she could, the girl stretched the black head wrap over the top of Aera's head and nestled it on until it was settled in place. The big bow was now perched on the front right side of Aera's head, so big it was nearly being squashed against Taehyung's chest. As soon as she had gotten the headband on, Aera's eyes opened up, she staring directly at her Lisa

"Uh oh...." Taehyung held his breath, expecting an outburst from the baby. It never happened, though. Instead, she simply rolled them up in an attempt to stare at whatever had just been placed on her head

"Good morning, sweetheart!" Lisa cooed, once again tickling Aera's stomach "Do you love the little bow I bought for you? You look adorable in it"

Little? ~ Taehyung thought sarcastically to himself

"Oh, you just look so sweet" Lisa fussed, stroking the baby's rosy cheek "I just have to take a picture of you! I'll be right back, little munchkin" Lisa jumped to her feet and ran for the stairs, passing Jennie on her way up

The girl watched curiously after Lisa, but once the Lisa was out of her eyesight, she shrugged and continued to make her way down the steps. In her arms was little Arang. He appeared to be falling asleep, his small head lolling closer to his mother's body

"Alright, Arang is all fed and changed" Jennie smiled victoriously at her husband. That grin disappeared, however, when she saw the new accessory on her daughter's head

"Don't ask" Taehyung shook his head

"That was Lisa's doing, wasn't it?" Jennie was clearly not surprised

"Of course"

Jennie once again stared at Aera, trying to make sense of the headband that was now wrapped around her baby's small head

"The bow is as big as Lisa's head"

"I know"

"....It looks ridiculous"

"Lisa thinks it's cute"

"Well of course she does" Jennie grumbled, moving closer to the couch. She leaned down to closer exam in the headband, which led Aera to stare up at her mother with wide, searching eyes "But as for me.....well, this isn't something I would pick out for my baby girl"

"Lisa said she saw it in the mall and couldn't resist" Taehyung tried to fight the smile that was trying to grace his lips

Sighing, Jennie threw Aera a sympathetic glance and crooned "You don't like that big bow on your head, do you?"

Aera blinked and waved her hands in the air before Taehyung held them down and stroked the top of her tiny fists with his index finger

"My poor baby" Jennie frowned

"She doesn't seem that upset" Taehyung shrugged "But I do agree that the bow is a little much. What do we do? We can't take it off while Lisa is here"

"Where was she going, anyway?"

"She wants to take pictures of Aera in her beautiful headband" Taehyung chuckled

Groaning, Jennie rolled her eyes and stood back up to her full height, bouncing Arang up and down in her cradled arms "We wait until she takes the pictures. Then we strike"

"Strike...?"

"We take that absurd bow off of our child's head"

"Oh. Got it"
