"Madame? Are you ready to leave?"

I glared at my maid. She rushed out of the room.

Sighing, I placed my hands on my face. I concealed the sob that rose to my throat.

Father was sending me off to a boarding school. A school that promised to teach me how to be a business woman.

That's not what I wanted. I wanted to be a musician; I wanted to play the piano.

I couldn't tell father this; he despised music.

Glancing at my mirror, I erased all emotion from my face. My bags were already waiting outside for the bus. Father had wanted to take me directly, but the school had refused.

I walked through the halls in our mansion, my heels echoing. I didn't want to go, but I had to. I was father's only child, the only one to uphold the business.

The bus was here by the time I got outside. I kept my chin up, walking like a lady.

I ignored the teacher, I ignored the stares, and I ignored the pain that came to my wrist.

I was a caged bird, and a caged bird could not sing.

I like this chapter, despite it being sort of depressing. Anyways, I hope you enjoyed!
