Y/N was a baseball player, best on her high-school team (Go Badgers). She was an amazing pitcher and hitter. Very popular, College scouts were already looking to take her in under a full sports scholarship.
"Alright, look, number 5 is a hard pitcher," She listened to her coach as she got a bat, "Only pitches fastballs, so be careful."
"Relax, coach, relax." Y/N fixed her cap with a confident smirk on her face, "I got this."
She stepped up to the plate and swung and as the ball made a cracking sound, almost as if it broke the sound barrier, she took off to the bases.
"She's gonna make it!" Her friends Saba and Mari squealed in excitement, "She's gonna make it!"
Y/N was going to make it, she really was, the ball was being thrown, they wanted her out. She almost got tagged until she slid to the homebase.
Dust flew everywhere, they heard Y/N screaming in pain.
Her coach ran up to her and saw that as she slid to the base, her pants were ripped open and the ground cut into her knee, her bone was showing.
"Call an Ambulance."
"No!" Y/N screeched, "No! No hospital!"
Saba and Mari ran to her friend, they knew she was scared of hospitals. Hated them with a passion.
"Y/N!" Mari said with a concerned look on her face, "You can't think like this right now! You need a doctor."
The principal of the school came forward, "We called 911, they'll be here soon." He told the coach who nodded her head.
"Please." Y/N begged, "I can't! No hospital! Please!"
The girl moved to get up but cried in pain, "Y/N, lay down right now!" Her coach demanded, after a few minutes passed, an ambulance arrived. Paramedics came to lift Y/N on the stretcher, she was shaking with pain and fear. As she was lifted into the ambulance, she screamed in pain, blood was spreading all over her and her uniform.
"She's losing a lot of blood."
"I've contacted Dr. Griffith, he's getting a team ready for surgery."
Y/N started hyperventilating, she was freaking out and panicking.
"Will I have to be put under anesthesia?" Y/N asked, heer leg throbbing with pain. A paramedic gently examined her leg, making her howl in pain.
"Yes."
"Are you going to be okay daddy?" 10-year-old Y/N asked her father who laid in the hospital bed.
"Oh sure baby." He smiled, "I'll see you in three hours."
"I love you daddy." Little Y/N asked, holding her teddy bear close to her chest.
"I love you too baby."
He never came out, first her mother died when she was born, her father died when she was ten, her grandmother died when she was 11 and then she was sent to live with her Aunt and Uncle.
All of the ones she loved the most died in hospitals, that's why Y/N was so scared of them, she thought she was going to die too.
When she was arrived, she was rushed into emergency surgery.
"Alright Miss L/N," A nurse said with a gentle smile, she put a mask on Y/N, "I need you to count backwards from 100."
"100."
"99."
"98."
"97."
"96."
"95."
"...94..."
Y/N started to feel light-headed.
"...93..."
"......92...."
"91..........."
She fell asleep.
When Y/N woke up, she felt drowsy and tired. Her leg was elevated and wrapped up.
"Miss L/N." She saw a doctor walk in, holding a clipboard, "How do you feel?"
"Wha-" Y/N looked around, "Where-"
"You had an accident at school."
It hit Y/N like a bus, suddenly she remembered everything.
"Where are my manners," He said, walking towards her, "Dr. Rob Griffith."
He extended his hand and she shook it, "I did your surgery."
"Thanks." Y/N said in a shy voice.
"You'll stay here for a few days."
"No."
"Excuse me?"
"No! I wanna go home."
"Miss L/N," Dr. Griffith paused, "I'm sorry but I can't let you go, you need to heal."
"Listen to me," Y/N panicked, "I need to go home, I can't stay here."
Griffith shook his head and frowned, "You are injured, you need to stay here and rest."
"Please," Y/N begged, "I want to go home."
Griffith read her body language, she was scared, nervous, he could tell she didn't like being in hospitals. The Doctor went to her side and touched her shaking hands.
"I know you're scared." He said in a calming voice, "But we- I want to help you. You are injured, if you leave now you'll never be able to play baseball again."
Y/N thought about it for a moment.
"At least if you stay here, you'll be able to heal properly, please." Dr. Griffith gave her a gentle smile, "Let me heal you."
Y/N seemed to relax for a moment, she slowly nodded her head, "Okay..."
"Alright, good." Dr. Griffith smiled, "I'll be here, just press that button if you need me.'
"Thank you.""Trust me," He said as he went to the door, "There is nothing to be afraid of."
