~2 years before~
Sirens rang throughout the kingdom of Corona and people ran to evacuate to the kingdom of Montenero and Dantis
Montenero and Dantis were one of the safest kingdoms to go to when there was a war so I knew some of my friends would be safe
"Y/n come on!" Varian exclaimed
Catalina and Angry stood beside him as Lance urged them off to one of the ships
"I can't go with you guys," I told him
"What? Why not?!" He asked confused his grip on my hand got tighter as parents ushered their kids to saftey
"I got drafted," he froze and started shaking his head
"No no no! No! Can't someone else go?" He asked me unwanting to let go
"No they can't, I'm eighteen Varian I was gonna get drafted no matter what," I replied he hugged me tightly
"I'm just glad we're two years apart, I know you're gonna stay safe," I told him tears stung my eyes
"Varian!" Lance yanked him away and shoved him next to Catalina and Angry on the ship
"Girls listen to Varian!" Lance shouted Cassandra stood behind me her hands on my shoulders
"Bye" I mouthed to Varian tears fell down his face as the ship departed
"Remember, we're fighting so they can return," Cass told me I choked back tears and nodded
~present~
"Fire!"
Lina fired at the enemy taking down one of their towers
Cassandra was one of the soldiers that was fighting hand to hand combat
She and Lance along with Eugene. I've made more friends out here in the battle field, all from different kingdoms
"Light 'em up!"
I and several others lit the boulders of earth on fire
"Fire!"
We used our swords and cut the rope. We've been at war with the kingdom of jutzimanie for two years
They were strong I'll give them that but we were so much more stronger together
"Hold your fire!'
Jutzimaniesl's soldiers were falling back and waved their flag in defeat but we knew better
They have pulled the 'retreat' card far too many times for us to be fooled again
"Attack!"
We all took our weapons in hand and charged. We were so close to ending the war yet so far
I was only eighteen when the war started, now I am twenty and still fighting not only for my life but for others too
I would fight till my very last breath if it was necessary
"Y/n!" Carlos exclaimed and beheaded tye enemy from stricking me from behind
I smiled, "Thanks," Carlos nodded
"Hey love birds more fighting less flirting!" Cassandra shouted
I felt my face heat up and went to join everyone else
The war was now over and we had won. Cassandra and Eugene had us all separat into groups to clean up and get the kingdom ready for the royals to come back
Days passed before the ships arrived. Carlos himself was waiting for his family. We were extremely close so close you could say we've met our families just by description
"Guys!" Catalina, Angry, and Varian ran towards Eugene, Cassandra, and Lance
Varian didn't seem to recognize me at all, "Don't I get a hug?" I asked the three
Their eyes widened in disbelief, "Y/n?" They asked me I smiled
"N/n come on!" Carlos exclaimed and dragged me away
Varian was confused on who that could be. His heart raced with fear
He watched how I'd laugh with Carlos from a distance
Catalina laughed as she and her small family reunited
I was all Varian had left in terms of family. We weren't family by blood but we grew up together
He was a brother to me he meant so much to me and some day I hope to see him with his own family
Cassandra looked at the freckled boy with sadness, "Is that..."
Cass nodded, "Yup. Her best friend."
"Please they act like they're a married couple, the entire war they were flirting!" Eugene exclaimed Cassandra slapped his arm
Varian looked down. He really did fall for older girls
His future girlfriend though wasn't far from him, she was embraced in her sister and fathers arms
Catalina gave Varian a warm smile before turning back to her father and sister
Soon a romance would begin...
