"You haven't changed your mind right?" Dean looked up at him questionably.
"Let me go grab my backpack and we can go," Cas leaned through the window of the impala and gave his boyfriend a quick peck on the cheek.
"You know....you don't have to come with me."
"Yes I do. Now wait here. And be quiet!" Cas turned and started creeping back up to his house.
"I am quiet!" Dean hissed back.
"Maybe you are but your car's not!"
"Shut up and go get your backpack! I want to get out of this hellhole," Dean sunk down in his seat.
Cas smiled at his boyfriend and then quietly slipped inside the house. All the lights were off and he could hear the soft groaning of the old wood. No one was awake to catch him sneaking up to his room and back out again. He tiptoed across the lawn to Dean's Impala and hopped in. His boyfriend slowly pulled away from the curb and took off down the street.
When they were a mile away, Cas decided to speak.
"So where we headed?"
"Bobby's. He won't tell my dad unless I want him to and he's a pretty cool guy."
"Have I met him? His name sounds familiar."
"He was the bearded, cap wearing guy at my birthday dinner last year."
"Oh. The one who called me a pale faced angel?"
"Yes."
"..... I'm not pale."
Dean chuckled, "No. You're more like a slightly tanned angel with a dirty trenchcoat."
"It's not dirty."
"Oh. You finally washed it?"
"Figured since it was a special occasion I'd clean it."
"Running away is special?"
"Yes."
"Why's special?"
"I don't know. It just is."
They drove through the night and when the sky started turning pink, Dean pulled out his phone and tossed it to Cas.
"Turn that off will you?"
His boyfriend looked at him in confusion, "Why?"
"Because my dad is going to call me a couple times, and then he's going to get sammy to call and I don't want to be tempted to pick up."
"I guess I'd better turn mine off too."
"Good idea."
The two of them checked into a dingy motel room and stayed for the day, filling up on take out food and soda.
"Dean.... Why'd you decide to run off?"
"My dad, he doesn't want me to go to college."
Cas jerked his head up and stared at Dean.
"Why not?"
"He says it's my job to look out for Sammy and I can't do that if I leave town."
"But Dean it is not---"
"I know Cas. That's why I left."
It took them another hour or two on the road to get to Bobby's.
The gruff old man gave Dean a tight hug when he saw him. Cas received a rough handshake and a slap on the back.
"So, boy, you finally decide to leave your idiot father?" Bobby poured both of them a cup of coffee and sat down at the table with them.
"Yup."
"What made you decide to do it, boy?"
"He doesn't want me to go to college."
"What the hell?!" Bobby's coffee mug hit the tale with a hard bang.
""Your job is to protect Sam how the hell can you protect Sam from some pompous university?!?""
Dean glanced at Bobby.
"We just need to stay a few weeks. Until I can find a job and such."
"Dean," Bobby sighed and scrubbed his face with a hand, "you're staying here and working with me. Angel Cakes over there can find a job in the city."
"Bobby---"
"You want to argue with me, boy?"
"No, sir."
"Good. Now go upstairs and take a shower. You stink. Angel Cakes, you can help me clean a space for you two to sleep."
"Thank you, Bobby," the two runaways chimed.
A phone rang, which made all three of them freeze.
"That's probably your dad. You want me to tell him you're here?"
"Uh....no," and with that Dean retreated upstairs, leaving Cas in the middle of the kitchen.
"I'm going to go..... clean."
"Don't break anything or you're dead meat," Bobby grumbled before picking up the phone.
Castiel froze. He turned and looked to see if Bobby was serious or not. The man was busy talking into the phone receiver and didn't seem to notice him staring.
Suddenly Bobby looked up and glared at him menacingly, "Go clean something."
With a yelp, Cas darted off.
