Spencer had just joined the BAU on Gideons recommendation, and was gradually proving himself to the existing team. He wasn't the most social, and he didn't work well with crowds and the media, so on the surface he didn't have much to offer. But soon enough, he was able to show the team his intelligence and skill.
They were warming up to him, and vice versa, but they still didn't know much about him. A few people were determined to do so though.

"Hey, Reid!" Morgan said enthusiastically, trying to set the mood to a light one. He sat on Reid's desk, and put his hand on his shoulder.

Reid seemed uncomfortable, but didn't say anything. He became even more cornered when JJ and Elle walked over to the two of them, in on the interrogation that was about to take place.

"Tell us about yourself, Reid." Elle said, bordering on seductive and friendly.

Reid made no move in her direction, even though she called his name. He had his eyes locked onto his own hands that were clasped tightly together in his lap. His knuckles were turning white from the pressure.

"What Elle means, is that we want to get to know you a little better." JJ could sense how anxious Reid seemed to be.

"You don't...you don't need to know about my personal life." Reid deflected, refusing to make eye contact with the crowd of coworkers.

"Well, since you're working with us now, we just wanted to know some of the things you like, the places you go, your family." Elle smiled, dropping the seductiveness act completely.

Reid popped up at the mention of his family.

"Your family?" He repeated exactly what Elle said, "My family." He corrected the grammar, "My mom's name is Diana." Reid said nervously, trying his best to say something that they wanted to hear; some sort of information. "Reid likes his mother, she took care of him the best she could, but she had a hard time raising Reid." He spoke about himself in the third person, which the other found strange, and also what he had said about his mother was alarming, but they didn't pry, not about that.

"Where are you from?" Morgan asked, happy with the progress of conversation they were making, but he hadn't gotten what he came for, neither had the girls.

"Las Veges." Reid replied simply, looking up for a moment, trying to adjust to his surroundings to become more comfortable.

"Las Veges?!" Morgan uttered, an immense amount of surprise in his voice. "You are from Veges?"

"That's where I was born?" Reid seemed confused by the rhetorically question. He rubbed his eyes harshly, seeming uncomfortable and confused.

"Are you ok, Reid?" JJ asked, putting her hand on his back. Now there was two people touching him.

He flinched, absolutely wanting to leave, and run to Gideon.

"If you want to know things about me, just ask Gideon!" Reid blurted out, standing up abruptly, and walking angrily away.

The three looked at each other then back at Reid. They saw him walk towards the elevators, his hands crossed and to himself. Once he turned around in the elevator, they saw a generous amount of blood covering his hand.
They looked back at each other again, more shock on their faces now. Maybe they would take his advice and asked Gideon.

They made their way up to the upper deck of the bullpen, and into Gideons office. Morgan knocked on the door frame and walked in before he got an answer. Elle and JJ entered in behind him.

"Can I help you?" Gideon pulled his glasses off as he looked up from a file.

"You recommended that Reid kid right?" Morgan asked rhetorically, "What's up with him?"

"What do you mean?" Gideon knew what they were referring to, but he wanted them to say it out loud.

"He just kind of exploded and ran off." Elle winced, hoping she wasn't in trouble.

"Were you guys pestering him? Or crowding around him?" Gideon asked, a blank look in his eyes.

"Yeah, we were." Morgan shrugged, not seeing the relevance.

"He doesn't like that." Gideon sighed, "He's easily uncomfortable; he doesn't react well to stress."

"Are you sure he's fit to work here then? He needs to get over that if he wants to work with the media like the rest of us." Morgan said.

"He can't help it, cut him some slack."

"Some slack? All we did was ask him three questions and he yelled and ran off! He's not fit to be on this team." Morgan countered.

"Morgan, calm down. Maybe he just had a rough childhood." Elle cooed.

"You've seen him work a case. That kid has every fact possible in that head of his. So what if he's autistic, it doesn't mean he can't work!" Gideon blurted out.

"What?" JJ asked, a little dumbfounded.

"I mean, you've seen him fidget with his hands right?" Gideon sighed, "He rubs his eyes a lot, talks in the third person, he repeats things." Gideon rambled off a list.

"He did do all of those things when we talk to him." Elle said reluctantly.

"Let me guess, you got all touchy with him too?" Gideon asked.

"Yeah..." JJ admitted.

"You just overwhelmed him. He's ok." Gideon assured.

The three nodded, and left the room hastily.
