I sat beside On-Jo with my hand on her shoulder, rubbing it slowly and softly.

She had calmed down after a while.

"Let's go out."

I turned to Cheong-San. "What did you just say?"

"We can't last here any longer." He answered.

Gyeong-Su stared at Cheong-San like he was a weirdo. "But how?"

"The rope."

Cheong-San turned to Gyeong-Su. "Open the door."

I gulped. "Are you sure this will work?"

He nodded, not daring to face me.

"Open the door, just enough for the hose to fit."

Gyeong-Su huffed. "Must we really do this? Why can't we wait for the rescuers to come save us?"

"We could all die if we wait."

"This is unsafe! Let's just wa-"

"Is waiting for someone the best thing we can do?"

Gyeong-Su didn't say anything.

"Fuck it..."
Cheong-San began to take down the tables and chairs on one side, sliding open the door as slow as possible so the zombies wouldn't hear.

Once it was big enough for the hose to fit, he began to reach for the hose.

Deciding to ignore what was going on, I turned to On-Jo.

"Are you feeling any better?"

She didn't respond.

"It's going to be okay On-Jo. Once the rescuers come, we can finally go home and see Appa again." I smiled.

She stared at the table, giving me the silent treatment.

"I think we should just give her more silence for her to think." Bo Yoon whispered.

"Don't you mean peace?" Bo Yoon rolled her eyes at Ji-min's words. "It doesn't matter, it's still the same thing."

Thud! Thud!

I turned and saw Cheong-San pulling on the hose.

"Stay here with On-Jo." I ran to the rope that was moving and grabbed it, pulling it into the lab.

Once I heard a sound from outside the door, I knew that most of the rope was in.

"Help me make knots." Cheong-San ordered.

"How long?"

"Big enough for a foot to fit."

Gyeong-Su who stood nearest to the door grabbed a part of the rope and tied it.

"Zig Zag! In 50CM Increments!" Joon-Yeong yelled.

I tied it as quick as possible. The faster we get it done, the faster we get out of here.

I placed my foot inside to check. "Done."

"Let's go."

Cheong-San took a chair and placed it near the edge of the window. Then, he picked up the rope and threw it down, letting it stretch until it reached its limit.

I looked over. "Can we make it?"

"I'll go and check the empty rooms, I'll give a signal when you can come down."

Just as he climbed up, he turned towards On-Jo,

And I knew the reason why.

Then he hopped down. "Gyeong-Su, you go first."

Gyeong-Su stared in disbelief. "Why me?"

"No. You go."

"Why, what's down there?"

I sighed. "Look, if you don't want to go, I'll go."

I hopped onto the edge and held onto the rope.

My feet were on the knots. It was like rock climbing, except that the rocks are knots.

I climbed down step by step, making sure to hold on tight.

As I reached the third floor, I heard a thud making me jolt. "Yah! You bitch."

I could feel my heart race.

I looked down and saw the last knot. As I placed my foot in, I saw someone inside.

"Ms Park!"

She opened the window, letting me in.

I looked out of the window, staring up, I yelled. "Cheong-San! Ms Park is here!"

Ms Park held my hand. "You're okay, aren't you?"

I nodded.

"Were you with the others?"

"Y-Yes! They're in the science lab and should be down any minute."

The next person to climb down was Nayeon, then Dae-Su, then Ji-Min, then so and so.

I noticed On-Jo coming down so I pulled her in.

Suddenly...

Clank! Clank! Clank!

The hose shook as glass shards, zombies and blood fell from the sky.

The last person who was supposed to come down...

"Cheong-San..."
