it's been two weeks

INUMAKI'S FINGERS SWIPE ACROSS his phone screen, his dull eyes fixated on the mindless mobile game he has open on the device.
It doesn't require any thought. But it still distracts him from the notifications he's ignoring — he only gets out of bed once a day now to feed his pets. He's glad they're there for him; he doesn't know what he would do if they aren't.
A call wipes his game off the screen and he drops his phone dully onto the pillow. He flips over almost mindlessly to stare up at the ceiling, not even wanting to look at the phone until the ringtone silenced itself. That is, until he recoils — that's still her side of the bed.
It stops ringing. He picks it up again. It seems to be all he knows how to do anymore.
His phone goes off again.
