{ Xiao x reader } On my mind

~Misunderstanding~

The Travel Companion and you spend the way chatting about funny things, cracking jokes and talking about the awesome day you had.

Strangely, you haven't encountered any monsters...
Usually there are a lot of tribes of Hilichurls and Abyss Mages near the Inn.
Therefore you often have your commissions at this place because you're told to clear the camps.

Since this time was different, you were wondering if another adventurer has already done your job.

Finally you reached the Inn. The lights were still on so you hurried to get up and check in.

"Good evening, here to stay over the night?" A young woman greeted you at the reception table.

"Yes, only one night. That won't cause any trouble, Verr Goldet?"

"Of course not, we're glad having the Traveler stay over at our place. It's an honor! And..."

She leans closer to you, whispering. "I'm sure plenty of people will book a room if they hear that the traveler is here, at the Whangshu Inn."

You grin. "Guess me being popular helps you to get your hands on money hmmh?"

"Does that mean we get to stay here for free?" Paimon says, excited.

But Verr Goldet shakes her head.

"Definitely not. We need the cash."

-"Do we get free food at least?"

"No further discussions."

"Paimon is still sad that we didn't get the food for free..." You can hear Paimon's muffled sniffs.

"Don't dwell on it. We still got Mora left."

"But free food tastes the best :("

"The food they gave us was pretty alright, too though."

Paimon takes a moment to answer.

"Hmmmm but Xiao gets his food for free, surely. That's not fair!"

"How would you know?" You get up to get a better look of Paimon's face.
She looks really grumpy...

"Isn't it obvious?" She crosses her arms, pouting. "Why would he have any Mora?"

You look to the side. The candle on the nightstand flickers mysteriously. Suddenly, a strong windblast crack opens the window. The light of the candle starts to dance at a dangerous speed and you get up quickly to close it.

You stand by the window, starring outside.

"He deserved that, he does so much hard work."

Paimon grumbles. "I believe we don't work less than him! There is literally no time to spare, so many people call our name for help, it's always: "Hey Traveler, I need your help", "Oh, Traveler, I need you to do me a favor", "Traveler, please do this and that"

She looks at you, waiting for your answer. But you simply shake your head, muttering something unclear and lay on the bed.

"You know what, let's just try to sleep. Good night."

"Good night...". And you blow out the candle.

This night is horrible. Did they put any drugs into the food? You feel like your head is gonna blast into million pieces and your body is sweating like crazy.

You slowly open your eyes but your vision is blurry. An attempt of shaking your head makes it hurt even more so you just rub your sleepy eyes. It doesn't help.
