SYNOPSIS

DUCHESS ALEXANDRIA Blackwood often spent her younger years in London for the social season with the viscount bridgerton and his family. Although being brought up in Sussex England, the beauty of London and its people captivated her mind, body, and soul. She was extremely smitten with her best friend, Anthony bridgerton. However, her euphoric summers came to an abrupt end in the year 1803

Just at the age of fifteen, both her parents passed away just two weeks before the month of may that year from a carriage accident while on the way back from a ball that the queen was hosting. The Blackwood girls were with the bridgerton family when it happened. The passing of the late duke and duchess of Sussex caused immense pain for young Alexandria and her even younger sister, rhea who was ten at the time. After her parent's untimely death, Alex became cold, never smiling, laughing, or showing emotions in front of people besides her grandmother and sister, she became a hollow of her once vibrant self. Alex swore to herself on her parent's grave, that she will take care of her younger sister. shortly after the funeral, Alex decided to move her sister and grandmother back to Blackwood Castle in Sussex and to never set foot again in London

Alexandria had gained Dukedom and became the duchess of Sussex at eighteen years old, three years after her parent's death

The eldest bridgerton son, Anthony, was there for Alex when her parents died, bringing comfort the young girl and being there for her when three weeks after the late Duke and Duchess death, his father, the viscount bridgerton died from a bee sting. Anthony was heartbroken after that, and so after Alex moved backed to Sussex, they have stopped talking and stopped sending letters, both of them swallowed up in their grief.

Now eleven years later after her parent's death, Alexandria finds herself back in London in the early stages of the social season. Looking for a husband for her younger sister under the supervision of the dowager duchess, lady Constance Blackwood, she must find a worthy husband for her sister in hope of him giving an heir as the duchess will never marry and sire an heir.

Will Anthony warm the duchess's cold dead heart and love her in the light or will he marry someone else and only love her in the dark
