I've pretty much given up on major editing so enjoy.

RECAP; Freyja has found 2 clues leading to the cure and Fake Lydia told her about a translator, Maureen who was in reality, Felix. So they strike a deal and Felix helped her translate the clues but 1 of the clues is incomplete. Azalea revealed that they have the other half. In the last chapter,  Freyja went on a heist to steal some money because they're broke teenagers on the run lol. Turns out the person she's stealing from is her mom's twin sister who actually works for The High Guard. Push turns to shove and to save herself, Freyja kills her big bad aunt.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Who have I become?

Freyja dug her fingernails in her palm as she raised her head to stop the tears from falling.

She'd just killed her last family member in an attempt to steal from her. What kind of person was capable of that? A monster, that's who.

Guilt settled on the ground beside her and hugged her. It brushed her hair from her face and planted a soft kiss on her temples. It held her hand and forced her to remember all the evil she'd done. From her father's death to Fox's death, to her mother's death, to the prison guards' deaths, and now to her aunt's death.

She was only 17 yet she was responsible for so many deaths. She knew exactly what it was like to lose a parent, yet she made so many children lose theirs during the prison's explosion. What if her aunt had a child? What if she'd condemned that child to sorrow?

Guilt ate at her stomach, biting down and tearing bits of her away. The pain spread from her stomach to her chest. From her chest to her head.

Her breathing became jagged. Her chest closed up. She couldn't breathe. Her vision became disoriented like she was looking at the forest through a fish-eye lens. She couldn't breathe. She couldn't move. The world was collapsing on her. Her nails dug deeper into her palms as the tears burned her eyes.

A ball traveled from her stomach to her throat, eventually coming out of her mouth as a gut-wrenching scream.

She needed to escape, she needed to move but her body was frozen. Her throat closed up again making her gasp for air.

She began to scream as her body shook. She screamed at the forest as she cried into the ground. She screamed as she remembered the faces of the people she killed.

She gripped the ground as she sobbed into it. She was tired. She needed the world to stop spinning.

Freyja continued to cry as her body shook.

"Freyja! That's her!" Azalea ran to her and raised her from the ground. She placed Freyja against the tree trunk and held her hands.

Freyja grasped it like her life depended on it, trying to stop gasp-sobbing.

"Breathe," Azalea whispered. "In. Out."

Freyja did as she was told. In through the nose, out through the mouth. They stayed there, breathing for several minutes.

Azalea embraced her friend. "It's going to be fine, I promise."

"I'm a monster." Freyja cried.

Azalea wiped her tears with her thumbs. "Monsters don't accept that they're monsters. You're human. Humans acknowledge their errors and strive to be better. You may have made mistakes but that doesn't make you a monster."

Freyja sobbed in her chest.

"Let it out..."

Freyja stayed there till she stopped crying and shaking. She was left with a pounding headache.
