During the remainder of their lazy Saturday, nothing very entertaining had occurred after Dina's doctors appointment. Of course, her nerves about telling her ex boyfriend and her dad about the baby were still very much present, but those nerves would dissipate while Ellie was around.
Dina remained flopped down with her legs draped over the armrest on the couch, watching Ellie walk around the house, getting much needed housework done.
Of course, pregnant or not, Dina wasn't just going to let Ellie do this all on her own. Especially not if she was the guest in the house, it was the least she could do.
With that thought, Dina stood up, making her slow approach over to the dark haired redhead. Her slow approach caused Ellie's eyes to drive upwards, studying her slightly younger friend with an anticipating smile, "Hey, Di. What do you need? You hungry?"
This caused Dina to smile even wider. This was the kind of stuff that Dina loved to see in a friend... Or even a girlfriend. Someone who cared so deeply about Dina and especially considering the health of the baby as well made Dina's heart flutter. The little things were what Dina appreciated the most from her new friend.
Dina shook her head at Ellie's question, internally giggling at her own thoughts, "Am I hungry?" I think you mean, "When am I ever NOT hungry?!"
Still though, Dina answered, her voice was filled with happiness and appreciation towards the slightly older young woman in front of her, "No, I'm not hungry right now. I was just gonna ask if you needed some extra help. Since I'm your guest, I might as well contribute".
To Dina's surprise, Ellie shook her head, "No, it's alright! You go lay down". Then Ellie stopped mid-sentence when she overheard the dishwasher turn off, signifying that the dishes were finished.
Ellie sighed softly, clearly getting tired herself from the seemingly never ending housework. Before Ellie could even ask, Dina had already made her way into the kitchen, "Don't worry. I'll take care of the dishes, honey".
As an adult who used to juggle school, and now household maintenance, having a dog, taking care of herself and keeping up on bills, Ellie very much appreciated the luxury of a little help here and there, "Thank you, Di. I appreciate this".
Dina nodded, opening up the latch on the dishwasher and beginning to place each piece of cutlery into their designated locations.
Meanwhile, Ellie was in the living room, flopped down on the couch with her legs up to her chest, listening to music through her earphones. She tapped her fingers up against her pant legs, starting to really get into the song. "Take on Me" by Aha, one of the first songs she ever taught herself how to play on the guitar.
She began to quietly sing along, currently under the impression that Dina couldn't hear her... But of course, she was wrong.
Dina started swaying slowly in the kitchen, "F*ck yeah, I love this song!" She said to herself, which caused Ellie to remove her EarPods from her ears with a smirk, "Yeah? You like this song?" Completely caught off guard that Ellie actually heard her, Dina blushed, nodding softly, "Yes. Sorry, l'll stop"...
Ellie put her legs down, standing up as she made her way into the kitchen where the beautiful mother to be was standing.
She stood up against the counter with her arms crossed, watching Dina finish up putting away the dishes. Part of her was waiting for Dina to notice her standing there, while the other part of her mind was begging for Dina not to notice, "Please don't notice... Please let this work out in my favor"...
