Vaidehi's pov
Next morning...
I stopped in my way when I heard Dr. and Meera conversing.
"Doc, are you sure you want to go there?"
"Yes Meera." He responded."I talked to miss Rana last night about it."
"Oh..what did she say?" Meera asked.
"Umm..." he seemed hesitant. I slowly stepped back as I felt bad for eavesdropping their conversation.
"Miss Rana stop!" I froze in my place upon hearing his voice."Get ready we are going to your home..if that's okay with you?"
I nervously nodded my head even though I wasn't quite ready to go back just yet.
I sat in the car along with everyone. Karthik sir was listening music wearing his headphone and closing his eyes, Meera was driving and Dr. was silently watching the scenic mountains view from car window.
I pressed my head leaning against the window as I watched rain droplets drumming over it and thinking how I am going to face everyone..even though I didn't do anything but somehow I just don't wanna go back.
Few hrs later
"Miss Rana we are here." Karthik sir jolted me a little from my nap.
I rubbed my eyes gently.
Dr. walked out of the car followed by Meera and I stayed in the car until he walked around the car and opened the door for me. I looked at him with denial to accompany him to go to my home— to which I was exiled from and was told to never return.
"I can't!"
"You can. I believe in you." He knelt down his one knee and held my hands.
"Besides—if you don't want to be with them then you don't have too..you can choose whatever you want—since I am with you!" He said taking my hand.
"Me too!" Meera said with reassurance.
Meera's pov
"Who are you?!" Her uncle asked him in a stern tone blocking our way.
"I am Emmanuel and I am here to talk to Vaidehi's father." He replied calmly. "If you please can call Mr. Rana—
"My brother will not talk to you!?! Or anyone here?!" He looked at Vaidehi menacingly.
And Vaidehi discreetly hid behind Emmanuel."Vaidehi!" Her mother called her.
"Maa!—
"Stay where you are?!" Her father ordered and she stopped immediately.
"Why are you here?!"
"I brought her here to mend things—you guys made a very huge mistake!" He tried his best hide his anger but i and everyone could see him seething.
"Do you even know what you are saying?! And beside how do you even know her?!"
"I know everything!" He started to walk toward her father slowly. "And I also know that Vaidehi has been wrongly punished by you!" He stood in front of Vaidehi's father. "You shouldn't have hit her!"
As soon as he said it..my all doubts were cleared about him. That he loves Vaidehi's just like Stupid Karthik tried to mentioned yesterday but I ignored it because I was worried about Vaidehi's whereabouts.
Emmanuel's pov
"..whatever dr. Singh told wasn't the whole truth...she isn't my wife and we didn't live in together. As you know there's a pandemic going on—I was at the hospital from day to night..the only time I went to live in my apartment was when I got Covid and I stayed in my room in quarantine. And as soon as I was Covid negative I went back to hospital and after three days Vaidehi left."
"Why should we believe you?" Her uncle interjected.
"Don't believe me but believe your daughter!" At this point I was losing my calm.
"Alright I'll believe everything you said but promise me that you wouldn't ever meet her!"
I glanced at her and saw tears in her amber eyes welling up.
"I promise but if you let a single tear in her eyes I'll— I stopped, realizing what I was going to say.
"Okay. Now please leave!" Her father replied.
Meera's pov
Dr. Agarwal walked out of the house and Vaidehi watched him with despair in her eyes.
"Maa." She struggled to loose the grip of her mother around her wrist. Then it clicked and I realized that she want to go with him but her mother wouldn't let her go.
"Stop it Vaidehi!—I know that we made a huge mistake but what you are doing it's not good either." Her mother scolded.
"Your mother is right."
"I don't know Maa, if you are wrong or right...heck I don't even care if I am wrong or right...but I know one thing and that is ..that I don't want live here anymore...i am already feeling suffocated...these walls..are reminding me of the time that I spent here feeling helpless and guilty of something that was never my fault!" For the first time Vaidehi opened up about what she really felt I was feeling very proud of her.
"Oh really then where do you want to live?—with this cursed girl? Or that Dr. we don't even know-where he's from or his family?!" Her aunt Bina taunted glaring at me.
"Chachi! She's not a cursed girl." Vaidehi wiped her tears."she's my sister! And as far as about knowing dr. He's a very good person—who comes from a nice family!"
"See bhaiya in Kashmeera's company our Vaidehi has learned to talk back!..what a shame!" Bina commented.
"Naina ji from now on Vaidehi will not go anywhere!"
"As you say.." Vaidehi's mother replied taking Vaidehi's hand.
"Maa leave me—I don't want to be h—
"—Then where do you want to go?!!" Naina bua(aunt/father's sister) yelled.
"I-I want to be there where someone would respect me..accept me for me...and more importantly trust me."
"You want go with him? Don't you?" Naina bua asked holding her by her arms.
"No maa I would never burden Dr. like that especially after he had done so much for me already." She cried.
'Oh my god. How can I be so dense!? Obviously Vaidehi would never go with him—after knowing that he never wants a family...so burdening him with her responsibilities is not even a question?! But does she knows that Dr. Agarwal has feelings for her?!' I took a few steps back and headed out and ran toward the road to catch up with Dr. Agarwal and stop him.
'No please stop!' I ran as I hard I could but it wasn't enough to catchup with them as they had already started the car and were now driving away.
"Dr. wait!" I screamed as I ran but as I mentioned earlier it was not enough.
"Think Meera! Think!" I repeated to myself and then suddenly I remembered the shortcut!
'Bingo!'
Vaidehi's pov
"I just wanna go way from here.." I wiped my tears with back of my hand.
"If you decide to go now...remember that door of the house will forever close for you.." my dad said sternly.
"I understand." I nodded and went up stair to get my luggage.
I knew a place where I wouldn't be a burden on anyone and that is my best friend Radhi's house; which is only 60 km from here. After reaching I can decide what I want to do next.
