Arriving at the base of the water tower I could already hear the ticking of the bombs, standing there I felt my heart sinking...
"Rahim! Rahim! Your plan work! Hey kid it's me! You should of- Rahim? Hey?"
Opening the cart door I stepped inside worry took over only for horror to take its place as the now turned Rahim lunged, grappling with him I had to keep him away from biting at me
"Rahim! Come on, kid! It's me! RAHIM!"
I shouted the tears brimming at the corners of my eyes as I stared into his dead ones, his growls were the only response I got
"I'm sorry kid, I'm so sorry"
I cried out and took the kid down snapping his neck, staying there for a few seconds I closed both his eyes, stood up, and sucked in a deep breath before snapping and banging my fist against the door
"YOU GODDAMN STUPID FUCKING KID!
I screamed before falling out of the cart, gripping the side and standing up my hands grabbing the handle
"Oh god... Jade!"
I cried out and forced the door shut stepping away from the cart containing Rahim's dead body
"Brecken, I'm sorry man... Rahim lied about being bitten and we blew up the building he... He turned and... Oh god, Jade...
Two hands grabbed onto my shoulders shaking me, Snapping out of my thoughts I stood up slowly, we were inside of the water tower, Jack and Joe's mangled bodies lay across the floor in bits and pieces
"Oh my god, What the hell did you do to them?"
Aiden's voice caught me from my train of thought, looking down at my bloodied hands I clenched them into fists before letting out a shaky breath
"I... I don't know...
Letting out a shaky sigh I could feel my chest tightening, Aiden stood in front of me with a worried look glazed over his face, he had dropped the explosives he had
"Are you sure your okay?"
He softly asked, feeling my claws digging into the palms of my hands I let out another shaken breath
"I think I'll tell you another day"
I muttered softly, tightening my jaw before taking in a deep breath and letting it out feeling myself calm down
"Let's get that water flowing"
Walking around Aiden I grabbed the wheel, looking over my shoulder I beckoned him over, to which he reluctantly stepped over the mutilated corpses, grabbing the wheel I gave him a look
"This water tower will belong to... The survivors"
He nodded making his choice to help the people of the Bazaar, helping to turn the wheel I heard the inner mechanism working to get the water flowing through the pipes and towards the Baazar

It had taken a few days for the water tower to become Survivor territory but here you two were, in the cozy innards of the water tower, Aiden laying on the makeshift bed, trying to fall asleep whilst you sat under the UV lamps, it was way past midnight and you could feel your volatile instincts wanting you to tear the kid apart, sighing in frustration you stood up and walked over to the opening in hopes of going out to do some exploring
"Hey... Where are you going?"
Aiden's tired voice called out, turning to look in his direction he looked exhausted yet he was holding himself up with his elbow
"Just to explore"
I said stepping onto the boards but was stopped as Aiden got up and stepped towards my direction almost falling over but I caught him
"Wait for me"
He muttered, holding him up by the shoulders I chuckled, pushing him back towards his bed
"No, no no, you stay and sleep"
Forcing him to sit down I went to pull away but he caught my hand, gripping onto my fingers
"Can you at least stay here?"
He asked sleepily, seeing as there was no way out I reluctantly sat down on a chair right next to his "bed", laying back down he looked at me with those brown eyes full of curiosity
"Who were you before the mutation?"
Aiden asked with a yawn attempting to stay awake
"I was... A runner for the tower, like a Pilgrim but I mostly acted on behalf of the survivors, my mission was to retrieve a file from a man known as Kadir Suleiman that contained what the GRE was planning to do with the Harran Virus"
I explained whilst playing with the hem of my coat, Aiden looked interested as he shifted to lay on his stomach using the pillow as a headrest whilst looking at me
"What happened?"
"Well... Kadir was using the Alias of Rais, he is... Well was something, a fucked up man who sought the torture of others, hell once I got into his Garrison I was the first to witness what he did to one of his workers, he cut off their hand"
Cringing at his tauntingly laugh
"Oops, was that my left or yours?"
The words rang out in my mind, growling at them as I could still vividly remember what his voice sounded like
"He was all the way fucked up Aiden, if you could take the worst possible people in the whole world and make them into one person Rais would be it, but after that incident, he promised to give me an entire crate worth of Antizin, want to know what he gave me?"
I asked in a monotoned voice, Aiden only nodded
"Five vials... Five FUCKING vials of antizin, we had a fucking outbreak on the goddamn eighteenth floor, had to barricade it, I walked in and watched the tower guards dragging bodies of the deceased through the halls...
Holding my hand up I clenched it into a fighting fist before sighing...
"What happened next?... Did you guys get any more antizin drops?"
"No... I and Jade went after them into a school, I can still remember walking into a room full of body bags just laying there, we found explosives hidden there I assume it was for doing god knows what with them, Jade she... She promised me to keep them away from her little brother...
Sighing softly I closed my eyes
"I'm sorry I'm cutting my story short...for now"
Hearing the rustling of fabric I went to open my eyes but was cut off when I felt two arms wrap themselves around me, Aiden's head was buried in my shoulder, and I could feel him nuzzling into the crook of my neck
"I'm sorry for asking"
Wrapping my arms around him I hugged him tightly, placing both hands on his back
"No need to apologize, I don't mind it's just... The ticking of explosives grins some form of remembrance of that night. When... Look I'll tell you the next time we find a safe zone"
Standing up still holding Aiden in a hug lock I flopped him onto the bed
"Aw come on...
He whined as he was gripping my coat
"i'll stay but you will sleep"
I pointed a sharp-clawed finger in his direction
"Okay okay... I will, but only because you agreed to stay"
"Good boy"
