I was throwing the football with Ares while I was waiting for school to start. That's when I saw him, the cutest guy I'd ever seen. He got to school early and was waiting for school to start, like us.
"Hey, look! Is that kid new here?" Ares asked me.
"Uh, yeah, maybe," I play it off cool.
The new boy gets his phone out and starts reading something. For a moment, I forget all about Ares.
I'm reminded when the football whacks me in the side of the head.
"Hey! Earth to Topher! What, you gay or somethin'?"
"Uh, yeah...somethin'" is all I can say.
Ares shrugs.
"No judgement, man. Go ask 'im out then."
I glare at him. He's a moron!
I decide to walk up to the cute guy, though.
"Hey, I'm Topher Raya-Graham. I'm pretty popular around here. Good looks, good grades...uh, I play football!"
"Nice to meet you, Topher. I'm Y/N L/N and I'm new here."
"Oh, trust me, I know. I'd remember you if you were here before."
He looks a bit anxious.
"I mean...since your style is so..."
I can't fix it. I just give up.
"How long have you been playing football?"
"Oh! Forever! Uh, wanna see? Ares, pass the ball!"
Ares obliges.
It slips from my hand and lands at Y/N's feet.
I laugh nervously.
Y/N hands the ball to me.
"I...I'm usually better than this. It's too early in the morning," I lie.
He nods, with a smile on his face.
Y/N is so understanding and kind.
I think I want him.
