WHAT IS TOURETTES?

Tourette Syndrome (TS) is a condition of the nervous system. TS causes people to have “tics”. Tics are sudden twitches, movements, or sounds that people do repeatedly. People who have tics cannot stop their body from doing these things. For example, a person might keep blinking over and over.

WHAT IS HEAD TICS?

Simple motor tics may include movements such as eye-blinking, nose-twitching, head-jerking, or shoulder-shrugging. Complex motor tics consist of a series of movements performed in the same order. For instance a person might reach out and touch something repeatedly or kick out with one leg and then the other.

WHAT IS CAREGIVER?

A person who gives care to people who need help taking care of themselves. Examples include children, the elderly, or patients who have chronic illnesses or are disabled. Caregivers may be health professionals, family members, friends, social workers, or members of the clergy.

CHAPTER ONE

"Fvck it! Pag prito lang ng itlog hindi ko pa magawa!" I smash the pan as my tics hit me again. F*cking tourettes! Labing-walong taon na akong nagdurusa pa hayop na sakit na 'to!

"Sir ged! Gusto niyo na po bang kumain? Ako na lang po diyan" Hinawakan ni manang ang braso ni ged pero inalis din niya iyon saka siya tinignan ng masama.

"Leave my house! Hindi ka nakakatulong!" Isa pa siya, hindi siya nakakatulong sa kalagayan ko. Palibhasa matanda na at mayroon pang pamilyang inuuwian. Kung bakit ba kasi nila ako binigyan ng caretaker na halos mas mauna pang mamatay kesa sa akin.

Ged rolled my eyes out of frustration.

"Clean that mess!" He yelled again to the old woman. "I don't wanna see your fvcking face after you clean that. You're fired!"

The old woman almost cried because of what he said, ged didn't blame himself because instead of helping it, his situation seemed to get worse because of her.

"What do you want me to do, mom? Make her stay here? For what? Hindi siya nakakatulong. Kung bakit ba kasi binigyan bigyan niyo ako ng caregiver na mukhang mas maaga pang mamayapa kesa sa'kin. Siya yata may kailangan ng caregiver eh!"

"Language Gideon! I am still your mother, you don't have the right for you to raise your voice on me! Stop being a rascal and respect manang." Her mother yelled on the phone.

"I can't swallow her! Give me a new younger caregiver or else you won't enter this house anymore." Head tics hit him again after hitting the end call. He almost threw away his phone because of his syndrome.

He often gets head tics everytime he feels annoyed or uncomfortable or stressed. He can't control himself, he always wanted to go to sleep to calm himself down. Marami nang mga psychologist ang tumingin sa kaniya pero ni isa sa kanila ay hindi napagaling si ged, mula pagkabata niya hanggang sa lumaki na lang siya ay andoon pa rin ang tourettes niya.

Pitong taong gulang noon si ged noong magsimula siyang makaramdam ng iba't-ibang klase ng head tics. Isang araw sa eskwelahan habang nakikinig sa klase si ged ay bigla na lang pumitik ng kusa ang ulo niya pataas at dahil doon ay nagulat siya at nagtaka pero hinayaan niya lang ito ngunit makalipas lang ng ilang minuto ay umulit na naman ito ng tatlong beses na sunod-sunod at napaiyak siya dahil sa lakas ng impact nito. Naagaw ng buong klase ang atensyon kay ged kung kaya't inasikaso siya ng kanyang guro at dinala sa clinic ngunit hindi nila kayang kontrolin si ged kaya't tinawagan na lamang nila ang mama nito at sinabing magpahinga muna.
