Draboo's POV

Surprisingly I get Mouse to repeat her name when I point at her. Most strays fight the renaming tooth and nail but we find it is easier to get them to adjust later on if we give them a new identity. Eventually they give in and we praise them. I didn't think I would be giving any meat today but our little abused cub surprised us.

When I put her by the play equipment she looks at me questioningly and I gently push her forwards toward the items. She approaches the piano with interest and sits down resting her fingers upon the keys. Doo dun.

Doo Doo Dun Doo Doo Dun . Her fingers begin to flit over the keys as she plays, her eyes closing as though the symphony flows through her and translated with the instrument. For a brief moment I can understand what she is saying. Tears well in my eyes as I listen to her play through the song. (In my head she is playing Rosemary's Theme from The Giver.)

Not many strays can play that beautifully or as fully as the one that is worming her way into my heart. I begin to wonder of it isn't time to adopt a new Kitrona of my own. I'd have to think about it, but in time this little female could prove to be a good match with me. Even though it goes against my policy of never adopting a Kit that I personally caught, I decide the angel will never leave my side.

I let her continue playing and greet Jubilena who comes out with a struggling Pheonix who's face matches the color of her hair. I grab hold of her and set her on the ground as I did Mouse. I point at myself. "Boo."

She looks startled a moment, not expecting me to introduce myself. She points to herself and chirps. "Seeleen." Humans identify themselves in such silly ways making sounds that have no meaning. I shake my head and she frowns at me confused.

I point at myself "Boo." Then at her "Nix." She then gets a look like I offended her in every language. I personally would like to let them keep their names, but it's been shown that most Kitronas become more tamed down when given a new name. Owners also like to have names for their Kitrona that make sense.

Nix glares at me spitting out "Seeleen," which confirms that is what she was previously called on her planet. "Boo. Seeleen." She points at me and back at her. This is always the most difficult part but once they accept their new identity they move on pretty quickly.

We go back and forth for a while before I stop correcting her and simply take her to the activity space where Mouse is currently coloring in a picture of her planet. Nix jerks away from me and sits down next to Mouse who quickly joins in conversation with her.

I do the same with the males who end up not saying anything to me past their first introductions except to glare. I learn they used to be called Deen and Nayt. Nonetheless they all got a small piece of meat jerky and moved on to interacting with eachother under our watchful eyes.

The giggles of a small Kitrona reaches my ears and I turn to see Frampton enter carrying pet, Krystal. She is around 45 years and has been with him for 20, and bounced from facility to facility for 5 before that. She was found stuck in space left with a few others alone on a primitive spacecraft. She and the others were rescued and brought to us, the first wild caught Kitronas we had at this shop.

"Krystal." I say getting her attention and she turns toward me with a smile hopping out of Frampton's arms and towards me. I stoop down so we can hug as Kitronas like to.

"'Ello Boo. 'ow you?"

"Good. You?"

"Grape!"

I chuckle at her misunderstanding and pat her head. "You mean great, sweetie."

She pouts a little and tries again this time making sure to add the lilt in the end hiss. She doesn't quite get it right but a lot of our sounds are difficult for a Kitrona to replicate without a forked tongue. I praise her and give her a piece of beef jerky for her efforts. She smiles takes the meat chirping a little "Tank Oo" at me unable to pronounce thank you properly. She chirps, speaking in Kitrona tongue and walks off toward the new Kitronas.

Danny's POV

As we play card games, under the watchful eye of the giant metallics, Mr. Silver enters with a woman wearing a lilac summer dress, her hair in twin braids, and some black flats. She interacts with the metallics working hard to mimic their hissing language. She looks to be in her forties yet has the energy and mannerisms of your average 20 year old.

After a little she is set down and she comes over to us. "Hello, do you all speak English?"

"Yeah." Dean responds for us. While playing with cards we decided that if we are going to get through this, we have to stick together no matter what. We appointed Dean to be our main speaker if we ever communicated with someone else. Little did we know that would be so soon. "Come over here; we should talk."
