the following few chapters are based on an amazing fanfic I recently read on Ao3 called 'Compromised'. it's one of the inspirations for me to write this fic lol.

“What the fuck do you mean I have to go on another mission with Choi?!” I exclaimed, staring at Eden as if he’d just told me I had to fight a dragon. My voice echoed through the office, startling even me.
Eden remained as calm as ever, leaning back in his chair with that infuriatingly serene expression, “It means that I’ve assigned you to a mission you must complete with San.” he replied, as if he were explaining the weather.
I threw my hands in the air, pacing a little, “But to act as a couple?!” My voice hit a higher pitch, a mix of disbelief and exasperation.
“Yes, but—” Eden started, only to be interrupted by the door creaking open.
And, of course, it was none other than my so-called partner for the mission. Choi walked in, his usual confident stride making it clear he hadn’t yet realized the storm brewing in the room. He gave a respectful bow to Eden before standing beside me, his presence instantly increasing my irritation.
“What’s the mission about, boss?” he asked casually, completely oblivious to the fact that I was moments away from combusting.
Eden folded his hands on the desk, “You two have to infiltrate and gather information about a couple’s resort that is apparently a disguise for a large drug ring—”
“A what resort?!” Choi blurted, his voice a pitch higher than I’d ever heard before.
“A couple’s resort, San,” Eden repeated, clearly testing the limits of his patience, “You two need to act as a couple.”
I shot up from my seat, my mind racing for an escape route, “There’s no way you’re pairing me up with him!”
Choi rolled his eyes, leaning on the edge of the desk, “Can’t anyone else do the mission? Like Naeun and Seonghwa hyung?”
“They’re on another mission.” Eden said simply, his tone making it clear this wasn’t up for debate.
“Then pair me up with Jongho!” I protested, crossing my arms and furrowing my eyebrows.
“He doesn’t have the qualifications San has.” Eden said with a sigh, clearly fed up with the both of us.
I groaned in frustration, running a hand through my hair, “What about Hongjoong? Oh wait, no. He’s still healing. And if I take him, Rihyun will kill me. Yunho? Wooyoung? No, they’re probably busy with supplies and don’t have the qualifications either. Mingi and Yeosang need to stay here to monitor the mission. Ugh! Why did Seonghwa and Naeun have to leave nowww?!”
