Today was the worst day of Kate Bishop's life. It all started with Nate deciding to wake her up at 3 in the morning to play with toy trains. Then when she'd gone to grab a coffee from the kitchen there wasn't any sugar. After that, she lost a game of paintball to Clint who had teased her about it for hours. She knew he'd never let her live that down. But the worst part of her day was at the very end. She and the Barton family were lounging on the couch watching a movie when Kate's phone rang. She grabbed it disappearing out of the room for a second.

"Hello?" She asked quietly her voice hushed so as not to disturb the family in the other room.

"Hello, Kate Bishop." The familiar voice spoke. She repressed a sigh

"Yelena how-" She stopped not wanting to know the answer "Why are you calling?" She settled on asking peering into the other room making sure no one was watching her.

"I have some unexpected news Kate Bishop that I must share with you." Kate's heart pounded as millions of thoughts flew through her head. Did her Mom escape from prison? Was there a new villain? Was Clint not telling her something?

"What is it?" Kate managed to croak out worry eating her up. Laura hearing Kate's distressed voice paused the tv

"Kate is everything alright?" The family proceeded to look her way while Clint's face broke into a frown.

"Katie, what's wrong?" Kate merely shook her head motioning to the phone in her hand anxiously waiting for Yelena to respond.

"Well you see I was-"

"Get to the point," Kate said harsher than intended.

"Your adopted," Yelena said casually making Kate choke on air.

"What?" She could feel her whole world change in seconds. A sob escaped her lips. Her whole life had been fake.

"Katie? What's going on?' The whole family was looking her way all with concern written in their eyes.

"Tell me your joking!" Kate screamed into the phone tears running down her face.

"I thought you would be happy about this no? I thought Mommy bishop wasn't very nice." Yelena said confused with her reaction.

"No of course I'm not happy!" Kate said clicking the end button and bursting into tears. Laura was beside her in seconds wrapping her arms around Kate

"Shhhh honey it's alright," Laura whispered in her ear holding her to her chest. Kate took ragged breaths feeling like the world would collapse around her.

"Kate are you okay?" Cooper asked he and his siblings appeared near her.

"Hey, why don't you three go watch some tv in Mom and i's room," Clint said quietly moving to stand near his kids. They hesitantly nodded scampering off and throwing worried glances back at the girl who felt like their big sister.

"Kate, what's going on?" Clint asked softly not even bothering to use his nickname for her. Kate swallowed back a sob pulling away from Laura embarrassed her cheeks turning red.

"Sorry, this is really stupid." She got out her eyes finding the ground. Clint placed a hand on her shoulder making her meet his gaze.

"Katie I know you. You don't cry a lot. What's going on kid?" Kate cleared her throat regaining her composure

"Well, I got a call from..." Kate paused thinking of what Yelena was to her. "A friend and she had some news she found out about me." Clint froze stiffing

"What was the news Katie?" he asked quietly.

"Apparently I'm adopted." She said her eyes falling to the ground.
