That one peaceful night didn't seem to follow us for the next few days as we traveled through stretched grass fields, roaring hills, and quaint valleys until we encountered the snowy mountains... I decided to empty some of my pack by giving away some of my food and throwing out any of my old medicines, herbs, and potions that had gone old as well as changing my clothes and burning my old ones as they were dirty beyond washing... This significantly lightened the load and my pack shrunk back to its original size as it had stretched to fit everything...

Fili and I exchanged a concerned look as we were about to take yet another mountain path, but this one was far worse than the others... It was very narrow and steep, and rain poured down in heavy sheets that soaked everyone, no matter if they wore a hood...

As we walked the path, Kili moved in front of me and held my hand to lead the way. I started to question Thorin's judgment regarding this path as we were slipping from the heavy rain. Kili, Fili, and I pulled on our hoods and tried to make our way through the path.

"Hey! Hold on! " Thorin yelled to us as he continued to lead the way.

I turned around when I heard a yell and saw that Bilbo had lost his balance and was starting to fall.

"Bilbo! " Dwalin pulled him back against the wall.

"We must find shelter! " Thorin called out as he looked around.

Dwalin yelled, "Look out! "

I set my gaze to the sky and saw a massive chunk of rock flying in the air and hitting the cliffside above us. Some of the company yelled as pieces of stone were breaking and flying over our heads, Kili put his hand over my torso to hold me against the wall of the cliff.

"This is no thunderstorm. It's a thunder battle! Look! " Balin spoke and pointed to the rocks that began to move and take the shape of a body.

"Durin's beard. " I said breathlessly as we watched it rip a chunk of rock out of the mountain and get ready to throw it.

"Well, bless me. The legends are true. Giants! Stone-Giants! " Bofur yelled with excitement as he walked closer to the edge, I pulled him back with a grunt.

"That doesn't make it any safer! " I yelled to the hatted dwarf who took cover from the chunk of rock that the Giant threw above us. Rocks began breaking away at the path making it even more narrow than before...

Suddenly, the ground shook and began to split under me in two between halves that separated the company.

"What's happening? " Kili yelled, I froze in fear as my legs started to move with the rocks, my legs wobbled as I began to lose balance.

"Grab my hand! " Fili yelled to me, I took it and felt more sturdy until he shoved me across the gap that was growing larger. With a yell, I fell on Kili who held caught me.

"No! "

The eldest brother as he gave me a nod, Kili stared at his brother with fearsome eyes, "Fili! " he called as the gap grew larger. I looked up and saw we all were divided and standing on the knees of a stone giant, one of the giants headbutted the one that we were grasping onto for dear life and it began to fall. Its knee slammed against another part of the path.

"Go! Go! Go! "

"Run! Get off! Get Off! "

We rushed off the stone-giants knee. My gaze returned to Fili before he was moved out of sight.
