Warmth And Coldness

Chapter 4

"So this is the whole formula of this equations. You can ask me any questions if you don't fully get it" I said

His head was sandwiched by the pages of his book while groaning. I tried waking him up and he groaned

I rolled one of my paper and used it to hit his head. He jolted awake from his sleeping figure

"Do you really want my help?" he nodded like a wounded puppy

I guided him while solving the problem on his own. He then started writing down on his scratch paper

"Thanks a lot, I get a lot of trouble in mathematical equations. It's so confusing especially when we're trying to find something that wasn't even there in the first place"

"Science and chemistry seems cool too I guess" I stated while copying his notes that I forgot to write down in class. Kuroo is a fast writer so it's a big help

"It's more interesting but I know you like math since it's simple which it isn't for others"

"As long as you have the given you can solve anything. Answering math problems are easier to solve than my daily problems" I explained

"I'm finished" he stated then showed me his answer sheet. I checked his answers it was right so I carefully gave it back to him

"You kids are already here?" we turned our heads to the owner of the voice

"Dad, welcome home" I greeted

"Good evening Mr. Honda" Kuroo politely greeted with a bow

Dad went towards us and patted our heads

"Have you two eaten yet?" he asked I shook my head in reply

"No, sir"

"Then you should join us for dinner Kuroo. It's getting late too you should probably stay for the night. I heard there were stray dogs roaming around the streets."

"Stray dogs? You should have told us sooner" my dad tilted his head in confusion

"We have already encountered the dog" Kuroo formally stated. I simply shiver in fear remembering the dogs face when he was chasing us

The three of us went to the table we started eating

"How was your trip to Miyagi?" my dad tried started small talk

"It was tiring but I enjoyed the matches I had during the trip especially the winning streak" Kuroo shyly replied

My dad gave him a gentle smile

"That is amazing Kuroo" he tried encouraging

"My team is the best. I couldn't done it without them"

Me and Kuroo cleaned the dishes

"Are you going already?" I asked as my father started to get ready for his work

He gently patted the top of my head

"I had to get through some files I'll be home really late" he turned his head at Kuroo

"Please take care of my daughter while I'm away"

"Yes sir"

What is this? What is going on?

My father left through the door as I bid farewell. I went back seeing Kuroo still writing on his notebook

"I'm almost finish..... There done! Ugh I'm so tired!" he said while he leaned his head on the front rail of the sofa. I went towards the sofa as I peak my head to see if he was still breathing

"I think I have encountered a shooting star but I'm the one who is falling" he murmured under his breath

"You have a weird way of speaking you have to much flattery" I stated while rolling my eyes

Kuroo's expression was unreadable.

"I'm going to watch a movie on my laptop wanna join?"  I asked him

"Shouldn't you be sleeping?" he asked

"I have trouble sleeping right now" I said

"Is it because of my presence?"

"Not really, I just had a trouble sleeping the past few days"

"Then let's watch Bill Nye!" he excitedly plunge his body at my bed next to me

"The science guy? No, I'm not in a mood of studying right now"

"Ok, then what do you want to watch"

"Alice in the wonderland"

"You just want to make fun of my smile"

"Not really, I just wanted to see mad hatter and the white queen"

I finished the whole movie as carefully closed the laptop I noticed that Kuroo was already asleep. With his head wrapped around the pillow literally

He tends to cover his ears using his pillow the fear of an insect crawling inside his nostrils or ear hole

I remembered back then when I was a first year. I became the manager the practices get late and Kuroo offered to walk me home. My dad was kind to invite him on dinner sign of his appreciation .

I couldn't really leave without waking him up since my bed was stick on the wall and he was on the edge. He was tall too so I carefully placed my laptop on the side. I face at the direction of the wall

I simply drifted myself to sleep

Mr. Honda arrived home quite late and went to his daughter's bedroom checking but he was greeted with the two kids sleeping soundly

He went closer and saw that they had a fair distance between each other. Which is something he would praise about Kuroo

He remembered the fist time he appeared to his life. He already knew that Kuroo has feelings with his daughter but he waited until he confessed

He admired the boy for his patience. He always hated boys that would possibly take away his daughter from him

He tried to confirm if they were dating. She always gave him a straightforward reply which is no. Something he knows about her that she never lies.

He somehow got attached with Kuroo. He considered him as his own son. He stared at them and properly tuck them in with the blanket

And quietly left the room

"Good night"
