Multimouse thought about the way Chat was handling her inability to choose between him and Adrien. She was so calmed by his presence, laying her head on his shoulder as they sat in a comfortable silence. At the same time the guilt was slowly filling her chest, she could so easily hurt him and for what, a boy that had never shown any affection for her until today of all days. She let her mind drift until she was repeating her memories of Chat Blanc over and over, he had said their love did this to the world, he knew her name, maybe this is how. She should just take the safer option and turn down Chat Noir now to spare his feelings later. As she started coming up with how to let him down gently she remembered last night, it was the first night she had felt so free and loved in a long time. He was so caring and he looked so scared that she would leave him. Maybe if she turned him down now that would be how he gets akumatized.
Chat shifted slightly so his legs were in front of him instead of crossed and Multimouse moved to lay her head on his lap. He started absentmindedly playing with her hair while lost in thought. She looked up at him for a moment, he was so still and at ease right now. She turned back to looking at the horizon, what did she want? She wanted this, a calm safe love that could still be playful and fun when she wanted it to be. She turned to her back and reached a hand up to his cheek, he looked down startled.
"You, I want you kitty," she said softly, barely audible above the wind. Chat smiled and hooked an arm around her back to lift her up. Their lips met and she wrapped her arms around his neck to support herself. This was perfect. They pulled away from each other as the warning bell rung for the end of lunch. She sat up startled at how much time had passed and quickly scanned the horizon for Bunnix. She wasn't in sight so Marinette probably didn't just end the world, good.
"Well then mouse, you should be getting back to class and I should probably head to my school as well," Chat had stood up and was leaning on his staff with a cheeky grin. Multimouse gave a little pout and grabbed Chat's bell pulling him in for another kiss leaving him blushing.
"Meet me at the Eiffle tower and I can help you patrol?" she asked while backing away, he gave her a nod and blew her a kiss. She waved and jumped down to the ground before slipping back into the bathroom window.
Marinette de-transformed in the bathroom before rushing to class as the second bell rung. She made it into the class without being late for once and saw most the class still moving around chatting amongst themselves. She saw Nino and Alya sitting beside each other talking with their heads close and leaning against one another. She moved up to her seat and caught Alya's eye, she gave her friend a wave before looking between her and Nino. Alya quickly sent Marinette a text barely looking at her phone in order to be stealthy.
'Need some time with Nino, you understand right girl' with a heart at then end, Marinette groaned inwardly but knew she had to do it for Alya, she knew how taxing being Paris's hero was on one's social life. She sat in Nino's normal seat and was glad Adrien wasn't there yet, on any other day she would be elated but this was going to be awkward at best. The class began to settle down as the door opened once more and Adrien walked through. He looked at the seating situation surprised and sat down beside Marinette shooting her looks when he thought she wasn't looking.
Marinette shifted awkwardly unsure how to feel under his gaze after everything that happened in the last 24 hours. She focused on getting her school supplies ready as the teacher began the lesson. She could feel her ears burning from Adrien looking at her. She glanced over in his direction and made eye contact. The two blushed and both looked away quickly burying their heads into their work.
The rest of class felt like an eternity for Marinette as she avoided talking or even looking at Adrien. She couldn't stop thinking about how he had been acting all day, his sudden interest in her was so strange but she did her best to bury any feelings for him deep down. The teacher dismissed the class and Marinette breathed a sigh of relief, she quickly packed her bag and was the first out of class. She couldn't wait to see Chat on patrol tonight. She skipped down the steps and out the front door but a shout stoped her from continuing down the sidewalk.
"Marinette!" the voice yelled from behind her, she spun around confused, it sounded like Chat. Instead she saw Adrien jogging to catch up with her. She looked around wildly, she had almost gotten out of school without talking to him.
"H-hey Adrien," she waved awkwardly. He returned the wave with a big smile across his face. Marinette almost melted seeing him direct it at her but she scolded herself mentally for thinking like that still.
"I just wanted to say sorry for earlier, I really didn't mean to make you uncomfortable," he said quietly as students rushed out of school around them.
"Its a problem- I -I mean no problem Adrien, everything's just dandy," she said flailing her arms around. She stepped back slowly, and he gave her an odd half smile. Marinette spun around quickly to get out of the awkward situation not seeing Adrien give her a faltering wave goodbye. He stared after her for a moment letting himself melt at how cute she was. A honk started him out of his daze and he saw the black car waiting for him. With a sigh he climbed in, his skin buzzing to just see her again.
