Akane's POV
After waking up late and getting dressed in some pretty clothes, I decided to head out for lunch. Just as I was on my way, my phone buzzed with a call from Takemichi.
"Takemichi. What are you up to?" I answered, adjusting my sunglasses as I walked.
"I thought I'd be Draken's bodyguard, but he rejected me immediately," Takemichi said miffed. "So, I'm following him right now."
I chuckled, shaking my head. "You're gonna get caught."
"Hey, no way! I'm doing it very subtly," he defended himself, but I could practically see him peeking out from behind a lamppost or something equally conspicuous.
"Yeah, yeah, sure. Hey, I wanted to tell you something," I said, pausing. "What is it?" he asked, and I heard him slurping on some juice.
I took a breath, smiling slightly. "I'm dating Mikey."
.........
The line went silent for a moment before Takemichi started coughing violently. "You WHAT!?" he yelled, probably attracting some curious looks from people nearby. "How did that happen?!"
"Well, it's kind of a long story," I began, giving him a quick rundown of how things had unfolded.
"So, you'll date him only till August 5th?" Takemichi asked trying to make sense of the situation.
"Yes," I replied casually. "Now why would you lie?" he probed, not letting it go so easily and I groaned.
"Anyway, I'm starving. Bye." I hung up before he could protest further. As soon as I walked into the restaurant, I spotted Takemichi.
'Well what a coincidence!'
He looked at me shocked and mildly panicking, but before either of us could say anything, Mikey's voice boomed across the room.
"Aka-Chinnnn!" Mikey called, waving his hand enthusiastically like a little kid. I rolled my eyes but couldn't help the smile tugging at my lips.
"What are you guys doing here?" I asked, sliding into the booth as Mikey moved aside.
"What else? Having lunch," Draken replied, shoving some fries into his mouth. "Red hair and eyes really do suit you," Draken commented, nodding appreciatively.
"Yeah, why'd you color it in the first place?" Mikey asked, squinting at me. I gestured toward a group of boys gawking at me from the next bench. "This is why. I attract too much attention."
The waiter came over, handing me the menu. "What would you like to have?" he asked politely.
"I'll take one Large omurice, a mixed fruit parfait, and a Tokyo Bloody Mary," I ordered, not bothering to look up from the menu.
"Do you guys want anything?" I asked, glancing at the boys. "One child's meal for me!" Mikey chirped. "What about you, Draken?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.
