Izuku was nervous.
Okay, it made sense. Who wouldn't be? He really wanted to make Katsuki shine with happiness, and that was a pretty complicated feat to accomplish. Very complicated feat to accomplish. He knew he had great chances, considering how well things have smoothed out between them compared to their much darker past, but he still wasn't sure. For all he knew, he might laugh at how awfully cringe the whole birthday surprise thing was, and Izuku wouldn't stand it and end up locking him out of the bedroom again.
Yes, it has happened. Izuku wasn't flawless and he didn't have a good temper. He made sure Katsuki learned that the hard way.
Anyways, for today, he was going to have to pull through and make sure everything was perfect. Balancing taking care of Mieko and doing everything he needed to prepare for the celebration, even if not large, was still exhausting. He'd called his mom over to help him so that he could go to the store, and that was the smallest break he got, which wasn't much of a break anyway.
Izuku sighed as he wiped his forehead, holding the handlebars of his bike as his backpack weighed heavily on his spine, shifting awkwardly to the side with every movement. With all the fuss and anxiety, he was constantly a sweaty mess, running and panting around the house before realizing he forgot to buy ingredients for dinner and had to ride a bike to the store (he had no license, or a car for that matter). At the end, though, he knew it would be worth it, and he would do his best to make sure Katsuki saw his efforts.
That is, until suddenly, a child shrieked and ran right in front of his bike.
Izuku turned quickly, a snappy movement of the handlebars, but his bike was sent toppling on its side. Izuku quickly outstretched his arm, catching himself but hitting his head anyway, hearing a loud thud and a sickening pain throughout his head and body.
Izuku groaned quietly as he lay on the pavement, the child gasping and running up to him before quickly rushing away.
Izuku slowly sat up, feeling a stabbing pain in his head, but collapsed back down after putting pressure on his right arm.
Oh fucking hell.

Katsuki knew he should be expecting something from Izuku.
Kirishima, Kaminari, Sero, Mina, and many other of his so-called friends had given him presents for his birthday, being too loud for their own good and even insisting he skip work to party. He excused them with loud yelling and kicked their asses as he ordered them to get back to their agencies, which they begrudgingly did, promising to meet him up later.
Like hell, of course. Katsuki had other plans.
If Izuku didn't have anything planned for him (which Katsuki doubted, to be honest), Katsuki was sure to make tonight a great day for Izuku, too. He knew it was strange, trying to make his own birthday a celebration for Izuku as well, but his twenty-fifth birthday didn't matter much to him anyway. He booked a spot in a restaurant, a fancy one with good food as he'd been told, and he'd talked with Mitsuki and Inko on how they might have to keep Mieko overnight.
Katsuki's plans for the night were definitely much more certain. He scoffed as he felt his body heat up at the thought, wiping his forehead from the anticipating heat that went throughout his body. It was sure going to be one long and pleasant night.
His phone rang, distracting him from his patrol, and he clicked his tongue as he was snapped back to reality. He fished it out of his pocket, his gauntlets not helping him and pressing against his hip as he tried to reach for his phone. Finally, he managed to get a grip on it, and already agitated, pressed the phone against his ear.
