Many years ago...
A five year old (Y/n) is sitting with her mother in their garden. Her mother sat the little girl on her lap while she read out her favourite story.
"The prince was a kind, humble yet strong person and everyone adored him, including the princess."
(Y/n) interrupted her. "Mama, are there people like the prince?" She looked up at her mother with her big doe-like eyes.
"Of course there are. And someday, you will find yourself someone like the prince too," her mother smiled.
"Really? Will I?" the little girl innocently asked with a bright smile.
The mother nodded while patting her daughter's head."Your father is returning today. You can ask him too."
"He is??"(Y/n), whose father had to go for overseas trips many times because of his job, came down from her mother's lap and skipped in delight that he was coming back. "Papa is coming back! I'm going to spend a lot of time with him!"
"Did I hear that my angel wants to spend time with me?"
On hearing the familiar voice, (Y/n) and her mother turned to see her father arrived at the garden with his luggage.
"Papa!!"
(Y/n) ran towards her father.
"My angel!" The father also ran up to hug his daughter. But after a few steps, he tripped and fell down facefirst.
The girl and her mother sweatdropped at the man's usual clumsiness.
"Dear, are you alright?" The woman asked her husband as she walked towards them.
(Y/n)'s father groaned as he got up but flashed them a thumbs up. "Don't worry! This is nothing compared to what I faced in Japan!" he grinned.
"That's even worrying," the wife sighed.
"Papa! How was the trip?" little (Y/n) asked, looking up at her father.
The man lifted her into his arms and carried her to the garden sitting place. "It was amazing! Japan is so different from any other place I've been to, and the food there is great too!" he said.
The trio walked up to the chairs and sat the little girl down.
"But what did you say about facing something worse in Japan, dear?"
"Ah, you see, on our second day there, I got a little lost," the man nervously laughed.
Both (Y/n) and her mother gasped. "Then what happened, Papa??"
Her father was about to reply her when he caught a glimpse of his wife's angry stare. He quickly defended himself on it.
"It wasn't my fault, I swear! The tour guide left me!" he insisted.
"You always get lost on your trips."
"Well, guess that's my bad luck, haha," the man chuckled. His wife finally sighed in defeat.
"Anyways, as I was saying. I was completely lost and didn't know their language either! But luckily I met this man who was a big help to me," the father said.
"Who was it, Papa?" (Y/n) asked curiously.
The man kneeled down to look at his daughter. "Did you know, (Y/n)? He was none other than the country of Japan himself! His name was Kiku Honda and he was really kind and generous," he smiled.
"Really?" With sparkling eyes, little (Y/n) asked her father.
"Yes, my angel! He showed me many places and guided me through the trip. Oh and look! He gave me this, this is for you!"
Her father took out a Japanese amulet from his pocket and gave it to her.
"This is beautiful! I love it, Papa," she gave out the brightest smile.
"I'm glad you liked it.""Kiku...Honda..." little (Y/n) tried to memorize the name in her mind.
The family of three spent their days in happiness and content. (Y/n) gradually grew up to be a gentle beauty who had already given her heart to a man she never met before.
Wanting to visit the country of Japan herself and meeting its personification, Kiku Honda, she started learning Japanese and understanding their culture. Even when she sometimes couldn't understand some stuff, she never gave up.
In her heart, Kiku Honda was a kind, gentle, humble and strong person who would always look after others and protect them. And she cherished a person like that in her heart for years.
Until...
My eyes slowly fluttered open as I looked around me and found it was late evening. I had somehow dozed off and almost missed dinner. Getting up from the bed, I realized I was holding something in my hands.
The amulet.
I felt a small pain in my heart as the memories bound with it ran through my mind all at once.
I kept the amulet and the other stuff inside and headed towards the door. Before I opened it, a knock came from the other side.
"(Y/n)? Are you there, aru?"
I smiled, knowing who was waiting for me. I opened the door to Yao.
"Aiyah! (Y/n), dinner is going to get cold, aru! Let's go!"
I smiled at him. "Yes, let's go."
Yao looked at me, confused. But soon his expression turned into a smiling one too. "Together, aru."
We walked together towards the dining room, hand in hand. Moving forward, leaving our pasts behind.
