Johann winced as Catalina applied pressure on his neck.
"Sorry," she apologized, "he barely missed your Carotid Artery. Your lucky to be alive."
Johann didn't say anything. He was feeling very conflicted in his emotions. Had he been a monster like that when he had injected himself with a super soldier serum? He had always told himself it was for the greater good of Hydra but now he wasn't so sure. Catalina confused him more. Why would she stay and save his life when she could have escaped. It didn't make any sense to him.
"Catalina?"
"Sorry, did I hurt you?"
"No, but I do have a question."
"Yes," she said carefully pulling his mask away from his wound.
"Why did you help me? You could have left," he turned and looked at her.
She didn't answer for a while. Then she said, "because it was the right thing to do."
He raised an eyebrow at her. "I don't understand."
Caty looked at him and her heart melted. He was genuinely confused. Had he been so full of hatred and anger that he hadn't even known that someone could do good for him? He was a evil man but maybe-just maybe- he could change. She resolved to help him do that and if was by showing kindness then kind she would be.
"Haven't you ever had anyone show you kindness before?" She asked.
"One."
"Who?"
He didn't answer. His defenses were starting to go down. Not good! Never let your defenses go down. It only meant pain or betrayal.
Caty pulled out a bandage. "I'm going to need to wrap this around your neck but I'll need to cut the mask away from the wound."
"Go ahead I have more," he said. She carefully snipped the mask so it wouldn't touch his neck. She took out the bandage and wrapped it several times before tying it off. It hurt for him to move but he would live. He had gone through worse.
"How's that?"
"Fine. How is your shoulder?"
"It's fine he didn't break the skin."
"Good because we need to make sure Albert is out of the base." He slowly got up. Her pulled out his pistol and handed it to her.
"Your going to trust me with a gun?"
"If you where going to kill me you would have done it earlier. Besides I can still electrocute you if need be."
Caty laughed. He looked at her in confusion. She cleared her throat, "the way you said electrocute was funny."
"You check the areas you have already been to and I will check the rest," he said ignoring the comment on his accent.
"On it," she got up and walked out of the cell area. It was ironic. His prisoner had just become his comrade. It's amazing what a common enemy will do.
