Abhimanyu Birla:

Abhimanyu packed the last of his things in his suitcase before looking around for his files.  They were not on the desk he left them on and it annoyed him. He had told his mother's staff many times to keep out of his room and not touch anything that belonged to him but they never listened.  "Suresh! Suresh!" Abhimanyu called out for one of the help. "Suresh! Get here right now!"
"Abhi? Why are you screaming? Kya hua? Why are you so angry?" His mother Manjiri entered his room instead of Suresh.
"Maa. How many times do I have to tell everyone to not touch my things? Now I can't find my files that had the curriculum for my next class."
"Is it the red file? Oh I kept it in the drawer." Manjiri took out the file from the drawer and gave it to her son.  Abhimanyu took it and started to look through it. Manjiri shook her head and went to sit on his bed. "Beta, why are you going back? Why can't you just stay here and help your Papa with his business?"
"Maa, you keep forgetting. I'm a doctor, not a businessman like your husband." Abhimanyu reminded her.
"We have hospitals here, no? Why don't you work in a hospital here? Ever since Saan..." Manjiri stopped herself as Abhimanyu looked at her and sighed.
"Maa. Please. Not again. We have decided to not bring that up again." Abhi said gently while trying to hide his annoyance. He really didn't want to talk about her again.
"We have decided to not talk about her but what difference that makes? You still haven't forgotten her."
"I have, Maa. I have moved on long time ago.  You keep bringing her up and reminding me." Abhi rolled his eyes.
"Haan now even that is my fault. Tu ja and do whatever you want to do. Who am I to say or do anything?" Manjiri cried as she left his room.  Abhi took a deep breath and went back to looking at his papers. He had no time for the drama his mother was so fond of and he for sure didn't have time to think about her.

The next morning, Abhi said goodbye to his mother and younger brother, Neil and left Udaipur. He was only in the city for a few weeks and he was already fed up of it and was excited to leave.  Between his father's taunts, his mother's drama and not having any work to do, he was about to lose his mind.  He preferred Mumbai a lot more even though he was born and raised in Udaipur. In Mumbai, he lived by himself which suited his reclusive personality. He loved his job as the head of the cardiology department at a renowned hospital and he didn't mind teaching a class or two at his alma mater either. It was a business management class, not his field but he graduated with masters for BA alongside his medical degree so he was more than qualified to teach the class.  It really was a favor to his old dean who he looked up to.

He was happy in his life or happy as he could be.  He had made the realization long time back that single life suited him more. He had been in a few relationships but they never really worked given his busy schedules and his love for solitude.  Then there was of course Saanvi.

He had really at one point thought Saanvi was the one.  He opened up to the idea of sharing his life and space with someone and even his parents approved. He had proposed after they dated for a year and she happily accepted. The weddings plans were on. Even the cards were printed yet the wedding never happened.  Back then, it was painful for him but now he was glad.  Now he could see how the relationship never had a chance.  His life was how it should be. There was no time or space for a relationship or love.
