Abhimanyu Birla:

Abhi sat with Akshu watching The Office, feeling more content than he ever remembered feeling. He really thought Akshu will find him boring but she genuinely seemed like she was having a good time. Anyone he dated in the past, especially Saanvi always preferred to eat out instead of hanging out at home. They expected to go to fancy restaurants seeing he was a doctor but Abhi was not a social person at all and preferred an intimate date at home. He was worried Akshu will find that way too boring as he has observed at university how she was a big social butterfly yet she not once complained and kept talking about how "cool" it was that he made their dinner. She found him cool and appreciated his effort. The most beautiful girl he had ever laid his eyes on, the girl who he thought was the coolest person found him "cool." It made him fall even more for her. She truly was special.

As another episode ended, he realized Akshu hadn't said or laughed at the funny scenes for sometime. "Akshu?" He looked down at her where she was snuggling against him and found her peacefully sleeping. He smiled and kissed the top of her head. He looked at the time and it was well past 1 am. He turned the TV off and not wanting to wake her up, gently picked her up and took her to his room. Taking her shoes off, he covered her with a blanket and stood there admiring her. He wished he could spend the rest of the night just staring at her but knew that would be a little creepy. He took the other pillow and got another blanket, changed into his pajamas and went to sleep on the sofa.

It wasn't long after he fell asleep that he heard a scream. "Akshu?" He quick got up and ran to his room.
"No! No! Please! No!" He heard Akshu screaming. He turned the light on and saw she was still asleep but crying. She was having a nightmare. He went and sat on the edge of the bed, gently trying to wake her up.
"Akshu? Sweetheart, open your eyes."
"No no! Not Aaru! Noooo! Kairav Bhaiya!! No no! They are all gone! Nooooooo!" Akshu screamed, twisting and turning.
"Akshu, darling. It's okay. It's just a nightmare. Please open your eyes." Abhi said putting his hand on her forehead.
"Papa!!!! Mumma!" Akshu cried louder. Abhi pulled her up and hugged her.
"Baby, it's okay." He softly whispered.
"AARU!" Akshu screamed but finally opened her eyes. She looked around, panicking and finally saw Abhi. "Abhi! Aaru! We need to save Aaru!" Akshu cried.
"Aaru is fine. You are okay." Abhi said stroking her face and still holding her. He could tell she was having a panic attack as her breathing became really fast and she was mumbling things that didn't make sense. Abhi could catch a word here and there. Papa. Acccident. Blood. Mumma.
"Sweetheart, it's okay. You are okay. Please relax. Relax. Relax. It's okay. You are okay." Abhi held her and kept whispering to her until her breathing became normal again. He looked down at her and saw she was silently crying. "Akshu, it's okay." Akshu nodded.
"Sorry, I woke you up." Akshu apologized.
"No. It's okay. Do you want to try to go back to sleep or do you want to talk?" Abhi asked gently.
"Is it okay if I sleep here?"
"Of course, I want you to sleep here." He kissed her head. "I'm in the living room, if you need anything okay?"
"Abhi?" Akshu looked at him. "Is it okay if you can sleep next to me? Please?"
"Of course." Abhi got up. "Let me bring my pillow. Akshu, do you want to change into something more comfortable? I can go bring you something from your apartment?"
"No! Don't leave, please!" Akshu said panicking again.
"Baby, please relax. I'm not going anywhere, okay?" He sat down next to her. "Okay, how about you wear something of mine? It will be a little too big, but more comfortable than your dress." Akshu nodded. Abhi gave her one of his t-shirt and she went to the bathroom to change into it. When she came out, Abhi tried not to focus on how her thighs were showing and how irresistible she looked. Damn it, this is not the time. She's already upset.

Akshu got in bed and pulled the blanket over herself put her head on Abhi's chest. Abhi put his arm around her and used his other hand to run his fingers in her hair. "Abhi?" Akshu said in a soft whisper.
"Yes, sweetheart?" Abhi kissed her head.
"How old were you when you lost your mom?"
Abhi was surprised by her question. "When I was 10."
"Oh. What happened to her?" Akshu said looking up to him. Abhi once again looked at her big brown eyes and felt his heart skip a beat. He couldn't get over how beautiful she was.
"She was very sick. Cancer and we found out too late." Abhi told Akshu.
"You still remember what she was like?"
"Oh ya." Abhi smiled. "She was amazing. So kind and wonderful. She had a beautiful smile and a beautiful voice." As Abhi was describing his mother, he realized why he was falling for Akshu. She was just like his mom.
"You are very lucky that you have her memories." Akshu said softly. "When you lose someone and you have nothing to go by, that emptiness is very hard to live with."
"Akshu, do you want to talk about your dream? I'm here to listen. Please talk to me." Abhi asked her. He knew she had to have some trauma that she never talked about and maybe that was the reason for her nightmare and anxiety attack.
"I'm really tired, Abhi. Can we talk about this another time?"
"Yes. Whenever you want to. Sleep now. Good night." Abhi turned off the light, as Akshu hugged Abhi tightly and went back to sleep.
