Justin's POV:

I sigh once more as I look out the bedroom window.

I'm such a fuck up.

I should've been paying attention.

I've let so many people get hurt and lose their lives because of this gang life, all because of a stupid decision I made when I was 16.

I'm so stupid.

So careless.

So useless.

I'm worthless.

I feel my heart ache.

This is all my fault.

Melissa and I are allowing Val to stay here, it's the least we can do for her. Especially since I'm the reason her boyfriend was killed.

I feel arms wrap around my waist before a kiss is placed on my shoulder.

I shake my head.

"Justin, stop."

"No," I boldly reply.

"You gotta stop beating yourself up about this. I thought you were used to this gang stuff."

"I am Melissa. It just sucks that it had to be Connor out of anyone."

I turn around and throw her into my chest.

"I'm okay baby girl," I assure before pecking her nose.

She wraps her arms around me once more, resting her head on my chest.

"Justin, it's okay to be upset."

I raise my eyebrow before embracing her back tightly.

I rest my chin on her head, closing my eyes.

"I know Melissa. I know," I say, my voice slightly cracking.

I kiss the top of her head, my eyes remaining closed.

"I'm slowly losing everything to this gang shit. My innocence, my guaranteed safety, my mom, half my gang, Connor... What's next?"

She looks up at me, a look of undying love in her eyes.

"I'm sorry. But, I think I might have something that can cheer you up."

She lets go of me before walking over and going into the closet, grabbing a sort of book.

I raise my eyebrow.

"This...," she begins, handing me the book.

I take it.

"...is a photo album of us. I made it when you were away in Chicago."

I open it, seeing one of the selfies we've taken before.

I smile at it.

I read the caption above the picture:
