Porsche

My hawk eyes scanned the VIP lounge of the bar. The day had been so long it felt like the night would never arrive.

It was finally nighttime and I had an assignment to carry out.

One assignment + one huge pay = the end of my debts.

Or so I thought.

My life was a huge mess.

I needed this money. My debts was piling up. Rent was due, my little brother had gotten admission, about to enter the university and needed money to get his books and tuition fees ready. I was owing about two people some money including some loan shark. The interests on the shark loan was piling up every day.

My life sucked but I needed to survive.

Somehow I got this job because a friend  saw me training at my advanced taekwondo fighter skills in a gym and sent my profile to an organization. So I got hired for a job, a dangerous one. I didn't want to mess it up. If I did the job right, then I could be a full time contractor for these people. They negotiated in thousands and the money was damn attractive.

I worked as a part time barista in one of the six star bars in Bangkok. I have met rich boys, wealthy girls, mean bosses, lovers, criminals from all over the world. They didn't matter to me because they only bothered about how to get richer everyday.

I bothered about how to pay my damned debts every day. Fuck it. I had no joy, or time to go frolicking with lovers in expensive bars like this. I focused on my job.

I returned my gaze to the corner and studied the environment. The atmosphere was warm and cozy. I moved to prepare wine for a couple who had taken a seat in the bar.

I had to concentrate.

What was my job for tonight?

Yeah. To find some guy named Kinn, keep him engaged in discussion until they come for him.

I had a very short memory span and I easily lost my concentration. These past weeks I've worked myself to death, I barely have a good night rest.

I served freshly prepared wine to the customer while scanning the area for my target.

My eyes rested on the table for three again. An older man who everyone knows as Gun T. the most powerful man in town, was seated with two younger men.

I wondered who Kinn was between the two men. I reeked my brains for any pictures of him in my mind. There was none.

I just had to look out for both guys. At intervals, I glanced at their table. I caught one of them looking at me twice and I looked away.

I needed to keep my composure but this game was getting really tricky. I planned not to get involved with these mafia people. I just delivered my part, get my money and disappear.

A low voice broke into my thoughts and I swirled around to see one of the men from the three seat table standing before the counter.

Seeing him upclose threw me off balance. His eyes were dark and piercing. His black suit was opened and his silly black shirt was unbuttoned halfway revealing a clear skin, buffed up with muscular pectorals.

"A glass of whiskey please." He said.

"Yes sir."

I threw in some ice in a glass cup and poured whiskey while staring at him. He took a seat and drummed his fingers on the bar table. On his index finger was a golden mafia ring. His eyes watched me strictly as I prepared his drink.

I passed him the filled glass. He took a sip glanced at me.

"I saw you looking at me twice, is there any problem?" He asked curiously.

I shook my head. "Um... No. Not all."

"It's a bit peaceful here today?" the man said.

He was right though. Today was a little peaceful.

This bar had a reputation for breeding bad gang war. Someone always ended up with a broken head every other weekend.

I forced a smile.
"Some days are like that."

Just then my phone vibrated in my table. I turned around. I Slid the screen and saw a message notification pop up.

'He is Kinn. Keep him distracted. On our way.'

Shit!

Wait. This was the guy. He looked too innocent to be the bad guy.

Damn it. I felt trapped.  Again.

...............

Kinn

I narrowed my eyes trying to read this guy's body language. He forced a smile at me again, went to a corner to chat on the phone.

I could tell from his body language either he was nervous or he was lying. I have worked with loads of cowards who claimed to be powerful but peed their pants when the tables were turned.

If I flipped the tables at this guy I bet he would be on his knees begging. I knew he was up to something but I just couldn't figure it out yet.

"Can you refill my cup?" I asked politely.
I watched him take the whiskey bottle and uncork it gradually. The subtle movement of his fingers around the bottle suddenly reminded me of some exotic sexual content.

I took my mind off it immediately. "I haven't seen you around. What's your name?"

"Jom."

"Ohh Jom..."

I smirked. Is that even his real name? I wondered.

I collected my drink and took a sip. I watched him serve another customer. A male customer.

He smiled so easily and bonded with his female customers for no reason and I found that distracting.

A pang of warm emotions hit my chest. I envied Jom or whatever his name was. He probably had no care in the world except preparing drinks in a bar, acting all cute and sexy in his barista black and white attire.

How dare he?

Here I was, Kinn Theerapanyakul, second son of the most dreaded mafia in town. Always suspicious of everyone and everything around me.

I worked solely with my instinct. I just couldn't trust anybody with my body and life. Not even my brothers know my deepest secrets.

I couldn't even keep a lover for fear of them betraying me and getting hurt. Heck, I have witnessed my share of death threats and attacks.

My world evolved around work - business, money, organisation and very little pleasure and most painfully, fear.

My father already made it known to me that I thread on slippery grounds and there was need to protect myself at all cost. Reason why I have six bodyguards following me wherever I go.

My life is worth more than gold and diamonds at this rate.
