Little One Don't Grow Up

21 3 2

Little one, your eyes are so innocent,
You don't have a care in the world.
I wonder what will thoses eyes see in your life?
Will you be weighed down with lifes cares?

Little one, can you please stay tiny and safe.
Can you not grow up, not have to face the burdens of life.
I don't want you to feel the pain that comes with age.
I don't want you to lose your way in the labyrinth of life.

You feel so fragile, your skin is so soft and tender.
Will you skin, one day, be hardened with the scars of this life?
Will your perfect little face be creased with lines of worry?
Will your tiny feet be calloused from the rocky path of life?

If only I could keep you from all the hardships that await you,
If only I could somehow take all the pain that you will feel.
I would gladly take it all for you. Bear it all myself so you don't have to.
But I have to let you live your own life. I have to let you grow and learn.

I can only pray God will spare you from some of the pain of this sinful life.
Pray your parents give you a good childhood and teach you about God.
Pray that when life seens like it has no meaning, you will find the meaning
Pray you will learn form the mistakes of others and better yourself.

I want to say "Little One can you please not grow up."
But I know you have too. I know you will make the world a better place.
You will be a fighter, You will change lives, You will make a difference.
Little One, I can't wait to see what you do with this life you have.
