Playing for Keeps

Chapter One

A week had passed during the time Sykkuno made his move to the YouTube platform and already Rae saw a change in him. He suddenly got more charismatic and gained more confidence.

It was magical to see him bloom before her eyes. To have let her into his personal space, to take her on this ride full of big changes and to be apart of this change, humbled her so.

But with this change came interesting things that one wouldn't expect.

A loud "Oh jeezus!" and a crash was heard from the living room. Rae poked her head out from rummaging through the fridge for yogurt.

"What's wrong? Are you ok?" Rae asked shouting

There was silence, then

"...Um...yeah, I'm ok. It's just- nevermind." Sykkuno answered covering his clearly red face.

"Uh-Huh, I know your lying. What is it Tom?" Rae asked walking over to him.

"No, no its fine. I was just reading something on my phone...it's nothing." He tried to wave her off but Rae grinned and grabbed his phone.

"Oh I bet? Lemme see!" And looked at it, her eyes widened" She shoved the phone back to him with a loud shriek

"Oh my God!" And nearly fell backwards  in exasperation, "My eyes! What the hell was that!"

"Rae? Oh Jeezus! I told you it was nothing! You shouldn't have looked!" Sykkuno panicked barely catching her by the waist and pulling her towards him to keep her from falling backwards off the couch, he was embarrassed but couldn't help laughing at Rae's caught off guard reaction.

"I- Bruh! I know you look at stuff like that because you're a guy and stuff but-" Rae started off ranting, Sykkuno cut her off,

"NO- I- you got it all wrong, I was checking my Instagram DMs and thought she just said hi, I wasn't expecting a- a ...um, you know! That." He said said panicking, voice cracking.

"Give a girl some warning man! Daaamn, She CLEARLY wants your attention- which is none of my business. But do you know her?" Rae asked finally calm down. Not taking note of the close proximity to Thomas (Sykkuno). 

"I kind of do, I mean...we did one stream together, uh...I think it was League of Legend a few years ago... " He replied in thought, "Yeah, but I wasn't expecting that from her, she's usually friendly that, um, that's about it. So...yeah." He said scratching the side of his chin.

"Oh well I get it, just...just be careful, they know your you, and your now rising, that doesn't exempt you from becoming the drama. They'll use it to their own advantage. Anyway, sorry I looked...I shouldn't have." Rae said blushing again and moved some hair out of her face blinking.

"Ok...I get it, its ok and thanks for the advice Rae. I really wasn't expecting that seriously." Sykkuno smiled, Rae nodded happily and they both were forgiven.

But reality sank in that Rae was sitting half on Sykkuno's lap. They stared at each other for a short pause until-

"Oh, sorry to interrupted I didn't know you two were having alone time. Don't mind me I'll just-" Leslie commented as she backed up from the fridge with water in hand grinning and slowly turned to tiptoe back to her room.

"NO Leslie we were just talking!" Sykkuno yelped

"Leslie!" Rae said throwing her scrunchie at her and got off Sykkuno's lap. Leslie laughed out loud and did a thumbs up to them both.
