Not Fragile Anymore

We bloomed with the pure rays of the sun
Which casted it's iridescent rays on our tiny buds
Whose soft petals delicately opened up
Revealing the world outside
We saw it from our naïve eyes, covered with a milky film
That showed us only the light, leaving out the darkness
And as our stems slowly elongated with the passing years,
The milky film started to fade away
And the shadows of the world were finally visible
The petals that we held so close to our heart
Started to fall
And no matter how long we held onto them
We couldn't stop them from leaving and falling
We had to let go
But we had to grow new petals
We couldn't let our falling petals decide our fate
We had to grow right back up, stronger than ever, with our head raised high, proudly shimmering in the morning light
Showing the world that we cannot be defined by our fragile nature
We had to stretch our boundaries,
Because an outer covering doesn't matter
We had to show them
That we were so much more
Because we will not break
We will not back down.
