Everyone knows that relationships aren't always perfect. Sometimes, there's bumps in the road, and sometimes, the roads get too bumpy to continue. That's what had happened with Thomas and I. I'd loved him so much... God, I still love him so much, but sometimes people just aren't meant to be. We'd hit one too many bumps and it just fell apart.

"Thomas, I still have to finish school at Michigan. I can't just follow you out to San Jose or wherever else you may end up. I love you, Thomas, so much, and I promise you that I will move to you once I'm done in college, but that's just not possible for me right now." "Okay, I guess I get it." "You guess?! Thomas, you have to understand..." "I do understand! I do! Why are you upset?" "Are you not sad that I can't move out with you?" "God, I am! But I want you to get the full college experience and not be forced to move out here!" "Whatever."

When people ask, I tell them that "I was so in love that I acted insane."

After the school year ended, I was fully prepared to fly home to Arizona and spend the summer with my parents and old friends and not think about Thomas at all, but of course, things don't always go my way. Brendan had invited me out to California to his house, and me being the idiot that I am, didn't think about Thomas. I thought that surely he'd still be enjoying Quebec and would fly back to hang out with Brendan way after I'd left, and so I said yes.

I arrived back home in Arizona, spent week or so with my family, and then packed a bag and drove to Brendan's house. When I got there, I was immediately greeted by a rib-cracking hug from none other than Brendan Brisson. "Hey there Bren." "I missed you. Here, come in and put your stuff down. We're going to the beach."
"Okay, well, let me get changed then too." "Okay, just yell when you're ready."

I threw on my bathing suit with a oversized t-shirt on over and left the room. "Bren! I'm ready!" We left and made the extremely short walk to the beach. We got there and decided to play some beach volleyball. We played for a bit and then I took a break. "Let me take my shirt off real quick." I looked up to see everyone staring at me, or more importantly my shirt. "Hello?" Brendan was the one who spoke. "Is that Bordy's shirt?" I looked down to see what I was wearing, was in fact, a Michigan hockey t-shirt. "I guess so."

We finished our game and then Brendan picked me up, screaming, and threw me into the water. "What was that for?" He just shrugged. I splashed him with the cold water and he screamed. "Hey! That's cold!" "Wow it's almost like you didn't just literally throw me into the water." He just shrugged.

A few hours later we made our way back to the house and I changed before I heard a knock on the door and Brendan came in. "Hey, can we talk?" "About what?" "You and Thomas." I immediately felt myself deflate. "Why? You already know what happened." "Yes, but I want to hear it from you, not from him." "Fine. I was an idiot and got upset at him for not seeming sad that I couldn't move to San Jose with him." "Damn. So he really wasn't lying." I just scoffed.

"It doesn't matter, because he probably hates me while I'm still hopelessly in love with him." "He doesn't..." We we're interrupted by the slam of a door and a loud voice yelling, "I'm home!" I looked at Brendan with wide eyes, because I recognized that voice. How could I forget the voice of the man I'd loved for years? "You didn't tell me he was coming!" "Sorry?" He gets up to go welcome Thomas.

"Hey man." "Briss! What were you doing in there." My eyes widen as the door starts to open and I see the face of the man I love. "Y/n? What are you doing here?" "Oh, um... Brendan invited me but I can leave." "No, you don't have to leave... I was just curious." "Ok." He closed the door and I could hear Thomas and Brendan talking with raised voices on the other side.

"Why didn't you tell me she was coming?!" "I'm sorry, okay? I just wanted my best friends to get back together." "Brendan, I love you bud, but I really don't think she wants to get back together with me." That made my eyes widen. Does he still love me? "I think you'd be surprised."

The weeks went by with Thomas and I avoiding each other and the only person I talked to was Brendan. One morning we woke up and it was raining, so the boys took that as an opportunity to go to the gym and I just stayed back. I decided that I'd make them breakfast for when they came back so I went to the store and got ingredients for crêpes before returning and making the meal.

When they got back, I was in the kitchen, just finishing up cutting the fruit. "What's all this?" I shrugged "I decided to make breakfast." Thomas and Brendan came into the house a few seconds later, with Brendan screaming. "CRÊPES!" "Take a chill pill Briss." Everyone laughed. "Let me finish cutting the fruit then they'll be ready." Everyone nods and walks away except for Brendan, who just leans on the counter next to me. "Can I help you?" "Are you gonna let Bords have any?" "Why would I not let him have any?" "I don't know. I just thought you might hate him and not want him to eat." I just rolled my eyes. "I don't hate him, Bren. You know this." He just shrugs and grabs a strawberry. "Hey!" "You were taking to long to cut them. I got hungry." "Idiot."

"Okay, y'all. Breakfast is ready!" The kitchen was stormed with boys trying to get food and I just stood back, not wanting to risk my life for a crepe. "Here, come in front of me." Thomas grabbed my arm and pulled me in front of him so that I'd be able to get some crêpes. "Thanks."

Breakfast was ate in silence until I broke it. "i take breakfast is good." Everyone nodded, except for Thomas, who spoke. "I missed your crêpes so much." I just nodded, seeing Brendan right next to him with a devilish smile on his face.

We were stuck inside all day because of the rain so we just spent the day doing random stuff like playing board games and video games. Later that night, I was cornered by Thomas when I tried to go to my room. "Hey." "Uh, hey Thomas. What do you need?" "You." "What?!" "I heard you tell Briss today that you don't hate me." "And? I don't. That's the truth." "Okay, so what do you feel?" "I miss you, that's what I feel. I feel like an idiot for letting you go. I miss everything. I miss screaming and fighting and kissing in the rain, Thomas." "Then how about we go kiss in the rain." I had no chance to respond before I was being pulled out the door and into the cold rain. "Don't worry, I'll let you warm up with my sweatshirt later."

He pulled me to him and looked into my eyes. "I love you, Y/n. I hope you still love me too." "I do, Thomas. I really do." That was all he needed to pull me into a breathtaking kiss. "God, I missed that. I missed you." I just laughed and pulled him back into another kiss, and all I could hear was the rain, before faint cheers were heard from inside the house.
