TW: Mentions of Abuse/ Harm, Needles, and a tipsy mention about suicide. If this triggers you, please do not read further!!

It was a day like another, lifeless, empty, cold and irritating. The screams, the cries, all of it. You
couldn't take it anymore, after all this time, you finally broke. It took long, and so it probably will
be too with the other "experiments", and that day, you hoped to never see. You were waiting in
Eri's and your shared room, you knew that she was suffering, you knew how it felt.

But what could you do? The least was to comfort her when she came crying, sometimes even
screaming. You didn't want her to get used to this. This wasn't normal.

It shouldn't be.

But it would help, wouldn't it? You kept on believing the day would come where a hero would
save the day, but that never happened. Fine then. I'll do it myself. Eri still was young. She still
had a future. I will save her! We will watch the sparkles, and eat weird frozen milk.

(AN: so sparkles=stars and weird frozen milk= ice cream; I did that because they dont know what
it's called Imaoo)

That was what normal free people did, right?
Well that was at least what you had read in the books Overhaul gave you. Yet you wouldn't be
surprised if all of it was fake. He kept on trying to keep us "happy" with toys and books, like

some games can erase the trauma and all the scars he drew on us with the needles. Such a
disgusting thing to believe.

Just then the door opened, and into the room came Overhaul and Eri. She, again, had bruises
and cuts all over her. It hurt you to see her like this, but you knew she was in more pain right
now. The tall man eventually left the room, leaving the poor girl inside.

You walked over to her, just in time to catch her. By now she had collapsed into your arms,
seeking for comfort. You didn't say anything and neither did she. The both of you had already
gone through the same exact scenario like a hundred times.

Overhaul hurts her, she feels pain, you comfort her until its your turn and then repeat. It was
more of a routine then really a one time occurrence. You took her into your arms, slowly lifting
her up, rubbing circles on her back, walking to the bed, before laying down with her head on
your chest. You could hear the small sobs escaping her mouth. Most humans would try to stop
her from crying now, but not you.

Why shouldn't she cry? It does kinda help with all the sudden emotions of betrayal, sadness,
anger and the humongous pain. "Let it all out honey. Its not your fault." You planted a small
gentle kiss on her forehead looking into her eyes, them slowly loosing hope. How could you let it
happen? Why was it like this? Why her?

You didn't even have the time to realize how attached the both of you had become to the other. You were attached, and that was okay. That was one of the few problems that didn't really
needed solving. The both of you weren't related, yet you had a strange connection to each other.
Eri appreciated your company, and you appreciated hers. It made the time in this hell of a life
better.

"Eri? Please listen to me" you said slowly, not trying to sound forcing or anything, not wanting to
overwhelm her. She didn't need that right now.

"mhm?" she hummed in response, eyes tired.
You leaned forward, whispering into her ear.

"We're going to escape"
"Now?"
It wasn't a surpised "'Now?" or an angered "Now?!?!" It was more of: a give me a reason to. She had lost hope.

"Yes. I got the route and all. You don't have to worry. Its safe."
"B-but if we g-get caught h-he will hurt you!" She said to you. Such a sweet inoccent child.
Always caring about others first. She was a firefly, bringing light into your dark world. She didn't deserve anything bad happen to her. Still, there were people who stamp on them, with no
reason what so ever.
