Charlotte was on the floor in one thud.

Footsteps marked the pool of red with horrifying squelches.

Charlotte's eyes remained open. Hollow.

Brown.

Cold.

Lifeless.

Delilah's throat constricted. Cut off her breath from her lungs, from her thoughts.

Her heart curled in on itself, writhed inside her chest and pulsed in painful fits.

Her body raised, forced by the fingers wrapping her arms. A prick slithered into Delilah's arm. Her legs could not stand. Her ears could not hear nor her eyes see. Her brain was trapped while her body was tied and led away.

Her brain was trapped in that last breath, that slice of silver, that burst of blood, and that one last spark of life in Charlotte that left.
