When Sylveon was just an eevee, Kei found her injured and starving in the middle of the forest while he was out playing in his backyard. He brought her back to his house and healed and fed her with some medicine and pokemon treats. Since then, Eevee or now that she has evolved into Sylveon, is loyal to Kei, always takes care of him and tends to be overprotective of him especially when the men and boys have taken interest in him. Eevee was Kei's first pokemon because he waited for Ash to get his first pokemon which is Pikachu and Pikachu was the last starter pokemon available so that's why he chose Eevee.

They found out that Kirlia wanted to be a performer that performs on TV. So the trainer abandons her Kirlia but Kei decided to let Kirlia join him and Eevee to be the Top Coordinator and Kirlia gratefully accepts.
