Kathy rolled her eyes, swatting Deyna's hands away. She grinned as she picked the plastic gun up, aiming towards the moving paper ducks.

"Bang!"

"Bang! Bang! Bang!"

Deyna's jaw dropped as Kathy landed each shot with practiced ease. Kathy turned to her, eyes flashing victoriously. Deyna gulped.

"Congratulations, miss! What would you like as your prize?"

Kathy turned to the man running the booth and smiled. "Can I have that one?" She pointed at a small tree figurine colored with a soft pastel palette.

"Of course!" The man took the plush down from the shelf and handed it to Kathy.

"Thank you!" Kathy exclaimed before grabbing Deyna's hand and tugging her away.

They walked for a few moments before Kathy spoke. "I want cotton candy."

Deyna blinked before smiling and nodding. "I saw a stand over there!" She pointed and Kathy immediately began moving in that direction.

"Three cotton candies please!" Deyna said.

"Comin' right up!" The woman in the stand said, quickly grabbing three of the sugary treats to Deyna.

"Thank you," Deyna said, pulling ten dollars from her wallet and handing it to the woman. "You can keep the change." The woman smiled and nodded as Deyna walked back to Kathy.

Kathy immediately snatched one of the sticks from Deyna and pulled a strand off. She ate it slowly, savoring the sweetness. "Thanks. I'll pay you back."

Deyna knew Kathy didn't like owing people anything, but just this once, she wanted to do something nice for her. "It's okay. This is to pay you back." It wasn't the entire truth, but she knew it would help Kathy feel a bit better about letting Deyna treat her.
