The Perfect Day

I threw off the covers of my bed and walked over to my closet to choose out some clothes for the day.

Green hoodie, and jeans. Perfect. I thought while I put on what I'd chosen. I quietly opened my bedroom door, hoping not to wake up George.

I walked across the hall towards the guest bedroom where George was sleeping. When I opened the door, to my disappointment, George was still sleeping.

Instead of waking him up I decided to make breakfast for him instead. I turned on the stove and grabbed some eggs along with a pan. Not much time later, the door to the guest bedroom creaked open, George was finally awake.

"Hey sleepyhead, you slept in," I said.

"Good morning to you as well," George grunted.

I cracked open the eggs into the pan, and added some cheese, "I'm making some scrambled eggs, just the way you like it."

I got no response. Looking over at George, I noticed that he was doing something on his phone.

"I have a flight back to the UK tomorrow," he said.

Hearing the news made me sad. I thought we would have at least gotten a few more days together before George even thought about going back to the UK. But I guess not.

"Then let's make the most of today," I replied. No point in wasting the last bit of time we had together moping around and wishing things were different.

After we had eaten breakfast George got ready for the day, we were ready to spend the perfect day together.

We walked outside. I debated holding George's hand, but decided against it.

"Why don't we go on a walk round the gardens," George asked.

"Sure, let's get some fresh air," I replied, still not sure what to do with my hands..

We walked down the streets in the early morning light, still feeling embarrassed about what happened earlier, I stayed silent.

"Aren't these roses quite beautiful?" George asked, "Clay?"

"Hm? Oh, yeah those roses are pretty I guess," I said.

"What's on your mind?" George asked, "You've been distracted this entire time,"

I stood still in shock, I had no clue what'd I say to George, because I know he doesn't feel the same way about me.

"Nothing," I lied. I couldn't tell him the truth, just not today. We passed and saw a lot of the gardens that had pretty lilacs, and roses as well.

I couldn't throw that one thought away that I had been thinking the entire time.

What if George doesn't take it well when I tell him?

"Hey Clay, where'd you want to go out for lunch?" George asked.

"How bout we get some pizza to go and watch Tommy's stream?" I replied.

I didn't need any answer, because George ran ahead of me and said, "Race you to the Pizza pie café!"

I smiled and started to run after him, today was the perfect day.
