Present Time

You were staying at one of your friend's houses, Casey Becker. She happens to be Stu's ex-girlfriend. That particular factor didn't matter to either of you. Nor did it matter to Stu. Not that his opinion would be relevant anyways.

Casey had called you a few hours ago, asking if you wanted to have a girls night. She mentioned how her and her boyfriend, Steven Orth, had got into a few arguments earlier that day and she needed to vent. Of course, you said yes. Honestly, you needed to get out of the house some.

Ever since.. the tragedy, your family had been cooped up in the house for many reasons. One, Gale Weathers, she had started a book about your mothers murder. Claiming Sidney had wrongly identified Cotton Weary as the killer. Yes, Sidney was the one who identified Cotton. I was on the phone with the police when she saw him, I didn't see anything.

Two, the stares. The stares of everyone in the city. The whispers. It was just too much.

Ever since then, our famous "Friday Night Out's" stopped. I tried to convince Stu, Billy, Randy and Tatum that it would be okay if they went out without us, but they said it wouldn't be the same.

I had finally caved tonight, wanting someone to talk to in person.

"Which one?" Casey asked, holding up two tapes in her hand. Nightmare on Elm Street and Halloween. I hummed, glancing between the two tapes. This was a hard call. "Halloween." I finally decided. We could always watch Nightmare on Elm Street later...

"Want me to make some popcorn?" I asked as she assembled the tv. She turned to me, "Sure, the Jiffy Pop is in the cabinet above the stove."

I nodded, walking through the archway between the kitchen and living room. I walked over towards the stove, reaching up on my tiptoes to grab the popcorn. Once I grab it, I turn on the stove, setting the small pan onto the flame. I hear the phone ring in the room behind me, "Casey!" I yell. I hear her mutter 'yeah, yeah I'm coming.'

She enters the room across from the kitchen. I turn around, my back against the counter.

She picks up the phone, "Hello." She waits a few moments. "Sorry, you must have the wrong number, bye now!" She replies into the machine. Chuckling when she goes back into the living room. I hear the phone ring again. "Can you get that?" She yells.
