I don't know how much time had passed, but it wasn't enough for me to forget what happened to my group. Ever since I found everyone dead I decided to survive on my own. I couldn't bare myself getting close to anyone especially after losing Kaden and more importantly, Kimi. I actually don't know how long I've been traveling and I haven't been paying attention to what cities or city I was walking into either, nothing mattered to me. But even on that day, I couldn't find any way to Jill myself because I knew Kimi would've wanted me to keep going without her, she would've wanted me to find people like she did but I just, I just can't.
I was walking around when I started to hit actual ground instead of woods. I hated being out in the open because I knew it was easier to run into walkers this way. I looked around and noticed that there was no where to go...walkers were everywhere. I acted quickly and hid underneath a car, staying quiet as I searched around for a clear opening and path that would help me get through this part of the city without attracting to many walkers on the way. I was kept looking around until my eyes landed on a tank. I was going to ignore it but I saw someone peeking out of it. "What the-" I was thinking when I looked around and saw zombies starting to surround it. "Whoever that is, is a idiot." I thought before watching the scene play out. But I realized that this was my time to escape. The nearest place to hideout was a store and so I came from under the car and quickly ran across the road and into the store, hiding behind the counter.
I stayed there for a second before hearing a couple of voices. "Hey!" I heard before I felt myself being yanked by my shirt. "Let me go!" I yelled before my mouth was covered. "Stop, your attracting the walkers!" The guy whispered to me. I looked around and I saw three guys and two women staring at me while a black guy was holding me. "Mind letting me go? Your not my dad you know." I said which made him let me go. "What is a kid doing out here?" The guy in the sheriff uniform asked. "What are you doing here? Patrolling the area because it's a little to late for that?" I said before hearing shots ring out which made everyone look up towards the roof. "Don't tell me that's Dixon." The women said before they started to run upstairs. "Come on kid!" The black guy said which made me roll my eyes and follow them upstairs.
"Hey Dixon are you crazy?" One of the guys yelled once we got to the roof. I stayed back with my arms crossed. I had no idea who these people were and I didn't want to wait to find out either, but with this psycho shooting his gun I wouldn't have much choice soon. "Aye, you ought be more polite to a man with a gun!" the red neck at the end of the roof yelled towards the group. I wanted to tell him he was stupid, but I was sure everyone was thinking it already and she didn't feel like putting the spotlight on herself when she wasn't even suppose to be here.
"Man your wasting bullets we don't even got man and you bringing more walkers on our ass, man just chill!" Once the black guy spoke to the guy Dixon, it seemed like the man wanted to get up all in his face. "Really, we are fighting right now?" I thought to myself, rolling my eyes. Everything was pretty fine until Meryl said the infamous word: nigger and set the black guy off. I was definitely offend but I wasn't about to jump into a fight with a white man with a gun but if he tried anything, I wouldn't mind stabbing him to death at that point. Dixon started beating up the black guy and as it kept going on it made me slowly go over to where everyone was at, but I didn't dare get close to Dixon.
I watched as he held a gun to the guys head. Everyone looked scared, but I didn't have not a ounce of fear in my bones. "Democracy time y'all, show of hands." He was asking his group to raise their hands to make him the new leader. But I wasn't going to let a racist red neck be their leader after watching him beat that guy up. I frowned hard before looking over at the ground and seeing his shotgun. I slowly moved towards it quietly and made eye contact with the guy in the sheriff outfit. I pointed my head to the gun and then looked at Dixon. He understood what I wanted to do and nodded at me. "...hmm, anybody?" The sheriff grabbed the gun and I stood in front of him. "Yeah!" we both yelled. I kicked him in the nuts while the guy hit him in the head with the butt of the gun and then handcuffed him. "Good job kid" he told me once he finished handcuffing him. "I guess not all cops are bad huh?"
