Third POV

-- 36 hours before the disaster--

Prince Karn is not angry.
No way, not at all angry.

He is disappointed. Sad. Upset. Miserable. May be a little mad.
That could describe his mood right now. He is not angry only despondent.

Did he really hurt her this much? Did sending the letter affect her so much so that she insulted him in such a way?
Ananya had always been a supportive friend, they always understood each other. Each other's moods. Heck! They could practically read each other's mind. Then how come today they are here?

Prince Karn sighed, for the umpteenth time.
This is un- bearable.

I should rest for a while, maybe sleeping a little would take his mind of things.

He laid down completely on his bed and settled gently before closing his eyes.
The moment he did Ananya's face flashed behind his eyes. Her smile. The way her eyes crinkled when she smiles. Her half smirk. The way she bit her lip while hiding something. Her licking her lips to hide her laugh.

Prince Karn sat up instantly. I am trying to sleep why does this keep happening?
Oh god! This is impossible.
I should go out and take some fresh air. It will calm me, for sure.

He walked out of his room and making sure that no one was looking at him, he headed for the garden, nobody needed to alert his papa or Dadi right now. Especially when he was roaming around the palace so late in night.

The night was quite peaceful. Stars and the moon shinning in the sky, brightly.
A soft, cold wind was blowing all around. It was not loud, rather the slow wind was rustling the leaves of the tree slowly and least to say it felt pacifying.

He was so focused on keeping Ananya out of his mind and relaxing that he ran into someone with out realizing it.

"Ashwatthama!" Prince Karn exclaims surprised.

"Raj Kumar Karn!" Ashwatthama bowed his head in respect. "Forgive me, prince. I was not paying attention; I did not see where I was walking."

"It's alright." Prince Karn waved it off. "I also did not see you. Both of us are at fault. Here. Nothing to worry about."

"It really is true that you have the kindest of heart amongst all." Ashwatthama comments smiling at the prince in front of him. Karn returned the smile.

Silence surrounded the two when they without saying started to walk in the same direction. Lost in their own thoughts. In their own worlds.

Karn decided to start a conversation, if he needed to distract himself, talking could be a great solution for the same. "How come you be- friended Duryodhana? He is a prince, and he does not seem like one to do it."
