MANIC MONDAY
"Come on you lazy shit." Jess kicks the sofa her older brother had collapsed onto last night coming back late drunk, having drunk more when at home leaving a mess of empty bottle round the floor. Jess taking a garbage bag and collecting the all as Jim stirred in his sleep groaning rubbing his head from his rightly deserved headache. "That's what happens when you drink constantly!" Jess smirked. "Come on or I'll be late." Jess walked to her room dumping the garbage bag of bottle next to the bin. "And for god sake put a shirt on I don't wanna see that first thing in the morning!" She yelled from her room putting her boots on.
Jess turned the TV on before cleaning the rest of the mess after her brother before watching the small, crappy TV that hardly worked whilst Jim took a quick shower. He quickly changes into his chief uniform storming out the trailer as Jess rushes to catch up with him turning the TV off and locking up behind them, then getting into the passenger seat of the sheriff car.
"You're cheery this morning." she smirks.
"Please no talking." Hopper sighs again rubbing his temple starting the car, driving to the newspaper to drop Jess off first and then going to the station for his own job. "I'll radio you if I might be any longer. No complaints."
"Yes Mum." she smirks before Hopper throws the plastic folder of photos to his sister making her flinch but thankfully catching them. "Hey be careful with these dipshit!"
"See you later knucklehead."
"Oh very mature." She rolls her eyes as Jim drives off flipping her off, her sticking her finger up at him as his car drives off into the distance. Jess goes into work and is greeted by everyone. "Morning Maureen." the younger smiles at the elderly woman who she had become quite good friends with.
"You alright Jess love?"
"All good as usual." She raises her thumb up.
"Any dates this week?"
"Hero zero." Jess smiles happily as she walks into the darkroom with her new photos ready to develop. It's almost as that room as a different time space for Jess, she loved spending time in there, peaceful, quiet and she was alone. She looked up at the clock to see it was half 12 in the afternoon. "Shit!" she mumbled to herself having forgotten her and Hop's lunch.
She rushed out the room. "Forgot lunch again hun?"
"Yeah. I'll be back in 30 Maureen don't miss me." she giggles closing the door behind her running across the road to the supermarket to just get them some sandwiches. She quickly payed for them and went straight in.
"Hey Florence."
"Hiya Jess love."
"Where's my idiot brother then?"
"He's in his office."
"Wow really, that's a first surprised it's not a bar." Jess laughs with Florence as Florence follows her into the office.
"I should warn you is in there right now with J-" Jess interrupts her by opening the office door as Hooper looks up and a woman turns her head around greeting Jess with a smile that made her heart melt. Joyce Byers.
"Thanks Florence." Hopper nods as Florence goes back to her desk. Jess walks over confused to Hopper handing him his sandwich. "You took your time."
"Go to hell." she mumbles as she sits down on the chair in the corner of the back of the room. "What's going on?"
"Will's missing." Hopper informs his sister as she watches Joyce take a drag out of her cigarette.
"Jesus really?"
"But I said that a boy that age is probably out playing hookey." Joyce whips her head round and glares at Hopper.
"You dipshit have you never met Will? Yeah boy's that age do that shit but not Will, and especially not the party he's a part of."
"Who?"
"Mike Wheeler, Dustin Henderson, Lucas Sinclair." Joyce nods along.
"So what are you his stalker?" Hopper shrugs as Jess flips him off.
"I'll call Lonnie. He'll talk to me before he talks to a-" Joyce starts.
"Pig." Jess smirks at her brother as it's his turn to flip her off making her chuckle.
"Cop." Joyce finishes her sentence. "Find my son, Hop. Please. Find him!" she begs as Hopper looks over to Jess who gives him sympathetic eyes basically telling him he better do it or she'd kill him and she's not just talking about Joyce but also herself. Also asking with her eyes if she could be included with the search for Will.
"So what's the first part of the plan?" Jess asked her brother as they walked out the station and towards the car, Joyce walking a distance behind them walking to her own car parked two spaces between them.
"Talk to the kids you mentioned."
"You've forgotten their names already."
"No." he scoffs as they get into the car, Jess scoffing in disbelief shaking her head looking at the window to Joyce who caught eye contact with her as she got in her own car. Jess giving her a reassuring smile before the car jolted backwards in reverse. "Jesus are you trying to give me a heartache?"
Joyce chuckled as she got into her car as she heard the distant rambling and lecturing towards your brother as he sped off to the school.
