THINGS I'L NEVER SAY

Dustin's mom drove all three of them to the funeral. Jess continuously checking the small bruise forming on her face from where Lonnie had hit her in her small mirror.

She remained linked arms with Dustin's Mum the whole time through the ceremony, as everyone spread out waiting to get back in their car to go to the reception. Claudia, Dustin's Mum, came up to Joyce to give her sympathies and for Jess aswell.

"Hiya hun." Claudia bough Joyce into a hug.

"Thank you for coming Claudia."

"No problem. My sympathies, from Jess aswell."

"Jess is here?"

"Yeah she's over there with Dusty." Claudia pointed to Jess sat on the ground leaning against a tree making patterns in the dirt with Dustin, both smiling at something. "Yeah she stayed round mine last night, of course I had no problem with it, more so because she didn't seem her usual self."

"How do you mean?"

"Massive mark on her cheek. It started bruising slightly this morning."

"What?"

"Yeah she said she fell, she was probably shaken up, I think she was beaten up, well it's strong but still, I don't think it was a fall."

"Well I hope she's alright, I'll see you at the reception?" Claudia nodded as she walked back over to Jess and Dustin both getting into the car and driving off to where the reception was.

"What was that?" Lonnie walked up behind Joyce.

"Nothing." Joyce shrugs watching the car go by.

Everyone else arrived at the reception, Joyce was instantly looking around for Jess and found her talking to Lucas and Dustin. Joyce got dragged into accepting sympathies, again, from everyone and looked around for Jess agin when she had free time and couldn't see her assuming she had left.

She was right. Jess was driving home back to the trailer just wanting to get out of the stupid dress and go to sleep. She walked through the door to see her brother on the floor, looking around to see every single lightbulb unscrewed.

"Do I wanna know?" She smirked as Hopper shook his head. Jess shook her head chuckling as she dumped her coat over the chair sitting down on the floor next to Hop as he wrapped an arm round her as she leaned her head on his shoulder.

"Are you okay?" She asks as Hop shakes his head.

"Are you okay?" Hop asks in return as Jess shakes her head.

"I hate funerals." Jess sighed.

"Me too kid... me too! More importantly who do I need to kill for doing that to your cheek?" Jess chuckled.

"Joyce's amazing ex husband." Jess mumbled shifting her head against Hop's shoulder.

"Ugh that son of a bitch is back already?!"

"Yeah." Jess laughed slightly. "He's told me to keep away from Joyce or I'll be sorry."

"I bet you're terrified." Hop spoke with sarcasm.

"Quaking with fear." Jess returned the sarcasm.

"Are you going to leave her alone?"

"Hell no! I mean I kinda did today but I didn't wanna cause a scene at a funeral, I'll cause a scene when it's us alone or when you're there as my back up."

"I will back you up kid." Hop placed a kiss on the side of his sisters head. "I love you kid."

"I love you too Hop. You need to help me and Joyce though. You have to believe us. I don't think I can see her upset one more time, I think it kills me a bit inside every time I do."

"Speaking of believing you. Your time has finally come. So you're probably wondering why all our lightbulbs are unscrewed..."
