Jess waited outside school for a few minutes waiting for Dustin. She then heard his familiar voice as she got out of the car leaning on the door. "Oi Dustin!" She yelled waving at him as he instantly smiled at her running over to her leaving his bike with his friends.

"You ready to go?"

"Um yeah so about that..." Dustin dragged out nervously jumping on the spot. "Me and the guys were going to go round Mike's to play a D&D session."

"Yeah that's fine but I can still drop you off."

"Well we wanted to ride our bikes there since we already have them."

"Dustin you're Mum would kill me if she knew I didn't pick you up with everything with like Will going on." Dustin groaned leaning his head back as his friend started to call him getting impatient. "That's why she can't find out." Jess smirked.

"Really?"

"Just go you little shit. And be careful."

"You're the BEST!" Dustin pointed excitedly as he ran off nearly tripping over making Jess laugh. "I'M FINE! SEE YA!" Jess chuckled to herself once more before she got back into her car.

She made a fairly quick stop at her and Hop's trailer to pack an overnight bag. She wasn't planning on leaving Joyce alone anytime soon. Sure she had j]Jonathan but Jonathan had his own life, and should be focusing on himself aswell rather than having to worry about his Mom on top of everything else.

Jess didn't realise how long she had taken picking out clothes before she glanced up at the clock. Cursing at herself as she shoved random clothes into bag getting back into her car and driving as fast as she could back to Joyce's house.

Before she knew it she was halting to a stop when Joyce suddenly appeared in front of her car. "Fucking hell!" Jess screamed as she slammed down on the brake.

"Jess? Jess! Jess!" Joyce repeated frantically as Jess got out of the car Joy immediately squeezing her head tightly.

"Joyce. Breathe. Tell me what's wrong?" Jess bought her hands up to Joyce's cheeks, Joyce still keeping hold of her hand, as she let her tears fall Jess instantly wiping them away.

Joyce tried to get her words out but all that came out were unstoppable sobs. Jess obviously took it as a sign she had seen something that will mostly likely stick with her forever as she bought her into a tight, warm hug. Caressing her back resting the side of her cheek on Joyce's head as her tears soaked Jess's t-shirt.

"I'm so scared Jess." Joyce sobbed.

"You don't have to be.... cause I'm always going to be here for you and protect you."

"Don't leave me."

"I'm not going anywhere."

"No I meant now. Can we just stay here. I just wanna stay here for a bit... in your arms. Just hold me a while longer."

Jess just simply nodded as she tried to work out what the feeling was she felt in this moment. It was nothing like she ever felt before. It was strange but also thrilling. Little did she know Joyce was feeling it too.
