The Broken Breath

The broken breath

It all started when I saw you

My heart smiled and grew

Every time I saw you

That's when my heart knew

We started talking

And my head got clouded

Every time you were walking

Or any time you were around

Time became the worry

As the questions arose

My heart raced like a flurry

My worry started to grow

But we got the news

The joyous words

My answer was true

My heart soared like birds

But we knew the time was coming

The sad day when you'd be leaving

My heart is no longer running

My lungs seemed to stop breathing

My breath is broken

My tears fall like a faucet

My joy feels stolen

My face has a fake smile across it

An angel has stolen my everything

My angel is leaving me again

I would give up almost anything

To not feel my heart falling down a drain.
