Game day, Real Madrid vs Levante
I walked out onto the pitch with my teammates and focused. Today was a big game and I had to do well, I was still waiting for a call up to the Brazil national team.
I hugged all my teammates while Ivana went over to the referee.
"Don't stare too much" sofie laughed as she walked past me knowing about my slight crush on one of the Levante players. I ignored her and just focused on the game.
The game was high intensity. I was struggling to find space and I was getting frustrated. We gained a corner in the 43rd minute and I was marked by Gio Queiroz. Just my luck. I saw sofie laughing at me but I shrugged it off. I needed to create space for myself so I tried shoving Gio away from me but she wouldn't move. As the ball came flying in I pushed her slightly too hard and she tripped over but I got my head to the ball and scored right before half time.
"Vamos" Ivana shouted
"Yes!" Athenea ran over and jumped on me
All of my teammates came over to congratulate me but as I glanced over I saw Gio glaring at me.
"Seems like she's angry" sofie threw her arm round my shoulder
"I didn't mean to make her fall" i sighed
"Don't worry, it's football" sofie reassured me
Levante just kept possession until it was halftime. We went into the changing rooms for a team talk before the second half. As I was walking out the tunnel I heard someone speaking Portuguese
"Why are you so annoyed if you like her?" Tatiana pinto said
"Because she shouldn't have pushed me"
"Come on Gio, she didn't mean it. Just talk to her"
"It's easier to be annoyed than admit I like her" Gio sighed
I walked as slow as possible behind them until they left the tunnel
"Your playing well kid, call up to the national team soon?" Giovanna Crivelari began walking with me onto the pitch
"Hopefully"
"Trust me, keep playing like that and it'll be sooner rather than later" and with that she ran off to join her teammates
The second half began and we were playing far better. We kept possession and we're a constant threat to Levante. I assisted sofie before being subbed off in the 80th minute
"We don't want you to get injured, well played today" the manger said as I walked off
We won 2-0 and I got player of the match. I was happy with my performance knowing that international break was coming up and I had a chance to be called up. I walked back on the pitch and shook hands with the refs and my team. I shook hands with the Levante players but hoping to see one in particular. I spotted her across the pitch so I made my way over unsure how to act after what I heard in the tunnel.
"Sorry about the tackle" i said sheepishly
"Don't worry about it" she replied bluntly
"You played well"
"Not well enough" she said and left
I stood there stunned at her reaction before I snapped out of my thoughts and joined the team.
"Congratulations on your first call up" Pia Sundhage greeted me.
"Thank you very much for this opportunity" i replied shaking her hand
"You deserve it, grab your room key and then meet up with the rest of the team"
I walked towards the front desk and grabbed my key before finding my room. I had completely forgotten that I would be rooming with someone and I only realised when I opened the door and saw Gio laying on one of the beds.
"Hi" i said putting my suitcase at the bottom of my bed
"Oh hi" she barely looked up from her phone
"Look, I'm sorry about pushing you in the game, I seriously didn't mean it" I tried to make the situation less awkward
"I don't care about that"
"Whatever" i left the room and found my teammates
"Welcome to the team kid" Giovanna hugged me "I told you that you'd be here soon"
"Thanks"
"Are you alright? You seem a bit confused"
"Is Gio normally blunt with people?" I asked
"No, she just has a crush on you so she's being weird" Gabi Nunes spoke up
"Shut up Gabi" Geyse hit her friend
"It's true, I don't want to lie to our new teammate" Gabi wrapped an arm around my shoulders "come on, I'll show you around"
When we all sat down for dinner I had spoken to everyone and they all seemed very nice. I still had Gio in my mind though. I had liked her since the first time I had played against her and now I was finding out that she liked me back. My opportunity came though when I spotted her going to the bathroom. I waited a minute before excusing myself and following her.
"I swear if you start apologising again" she looked up when she was washing her hands
"I'm not going to" i replied watching her as she started to dry her hands
"What are you doing then? Is there a reason you keep trying to talk to me, I hardly know you-"
I made my way over to her and pushed her lightly against the wall and kissed her. I cupped her cheek with my hand and held her waist with the other. When I pulled away she looked shocked
"What? Why did you do that?" She asked confused
"So you would stop talking"
"You could have just asked" she smirked and pulled me towards her connecting our lips once again, fireworks set off in my stomach. When we both pulled away because we couldn't breath I smiled at her blushing slightly
"How did you know I liked you?" She questioned
"I heard you in the tunnel at half time and Gabi told me"
"Of course she did" she laughed "I'm going to leave, come out in a couple of minutes so they don't suspect anything" as she reached for the door I grabbed her back kissing her softly
"Sorry, I'll need to get used to that" i said as she smiled and left.
"So what happened then?" Gabi said as I sat down back at the table
"Nothing" i shrugged
"You were gone ages and nothing happened?"
"Nope, just made sure that she wasn't annoyed with me after I pushed her"
"I don't believe you, I'll find out what happened" Gabi said
"Okay" i smiled catching Gio's eye from across the room
